U2's Bono has been named the 2003 MusiCares Person of the Year by the Recording Academy for his ongoing humanitarian efforts.
Bono will be honored at a tribute dinner, concert, and silent auction on Feb. 21, 2003 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York, during Grammy? week. (The 45th Annual Grammy? Awards are on Feb. 23 next year.) Artists performing at the 13th annual gala event have yet to be announced.
The event will help support MusiCares Financial Assistance Program, which helps music professionals in times of financial, medical, and personal hardships.
