Lost Highway takes live radio route

Many of the Lost Highway label's releases- Lucinda Williams, Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams and the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack- have been widely acclaimed in the press but have encountered radio resistance. So the eclectic Nashville-based label is courting radio with a different approach: live specials with celebrity hosts.

U2's Bono will host the debut offering, a 90-minute concert from Williams recorded in New York on May 27. The Williams show will be offered to different radio stations in August. Shows will be initially scheculed quarterly; a concert by The Jayhawks, with a host yet to be named, is up next.

"This label was started with the idea of nurturing artists who loved to tour and play live," Lost Highway president and Universal Music Group Nashville chairman Luke Lewis said in a statement. "We believe the radio show is a perfect vehicle."
