(6/20/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- U2 is going to be performing at the Special Olympics in Dublin, Ireland this Saturday (June 21). The event will be televised in Ireland, and it will also feature appearances by the Corrs, Samantha Mumba, Ronan Keating, Nelson Mandela and former heavyweight boxing champ Muhammad Ali.
The Special Olympics is the largest sporting event in the world this year, and it brings together 7,000 athletes from 160 international delegations who have reached the 2003 World Summer Games. At the opening ceremony the athletes raise the Special Olympics flag, recite the Special Olympics Oath, and do a relay of the torch before lighting the Flame Of Hope.
Meanwhile, U2 continues to work on its forthcoming album, the follow-up to 2000's All That You Can't Leave Behind.
