Hot Press recently did a rundown of some of 2004's most highly-anticipated albums, including releases from REM, The Corrs, PJ Harvey and U2. Of the currently-in-the-works U2 album, the magazine wrote:
"Title: TBC
Status: U2 began preliminary work on their 10th studio album almost immediately after the conclusion of the Elevation world tour. Initial sessions were presided over by veteran producer Chris Thomas, although Daniel Lanois also popped into the studio last autumn while in town plugging his own solo record. Work appeared to be nearing its final stages before Christmas, but speaking on the 'Late Late Show' Jim Sheridan special at the time, Bono admitted that the band had been forced to scrap versions of some three or four songs. Recently it was revealed that long time collaborator Steve Lillywhite had been drafted in to bring fresh ears to the project and push the album into the final phase.
ETA: The smart money?s on a winter release, maximum retail boom time."
