Bono Gets Humanitarian Award...
It was announced recently that Bono will be this year's recipient of the Humanitarian Award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards at the Point Theatre on 3rd March 2003.
The award is being presented to Bono in recognition of his dedication and tireless work over the years focussing the world's attention on the massive problems faced by the developing world from International Debt burdens to the total devastation Aids is wreaking across Africa.
With the award is a donation of 100,000 Euros. At Bono's request Goal and Concern will each receive 50,000 Euros.
This is the third year of the Meteor Ireland Music Awards and previous recipients of the Humanitarian Award are Sir Elton John and Christina Noble.
Bob Geldof will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Awards ceremony in The Point.
In addition, Sir Bob along with his band will be performing live at the Awards. Simply Red and the LA based B2K will also perform on the night. Samantha Mumba, Alabama 3, Westlife and the Thrills are also set to hit the stage at this years Awards ceremony.
