Meteor Humanitarian Award for Bono
U2 frontman Bono is to be this year's recipient of the Humanitarian Award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards at the Point Theatre on 3 March.
The award is in recognition of Bono's work in focussing world attention on the problems faced by the developing world, from International Debt burdens to the devastation Aids is wreaking across Africa.
The award comes with a donation of ?100,000, which Bono has chosen to share equally between the Irish charities Goal and Concern.
Previous recipients of the Meteor Humanitarian Award are Sir Elton John and Christina Noble.
The Meteor Ireland Music Awards take place at The Point, Dublin on 3 March.
