Oscars nod for U2's Gangs track

Irish rockers U2 will face Eminem and Paul Simon in the Best Song category at this year's Oscars.

'The Hands That Built America' from Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York' is up against Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' from his debut film '8 Mile'.

Also nominated are Paul Simon's 'Father and Daughter' from 'The Wild Thornberrys Movie', 'I Move On' (John Kander and Fred Ebb) from 'Chicago' and 'Burn It Blue' (Elliot Goldenthal and Julie Taymor) from 'Frida'.

Music and lyrics for 'The Hands That Built America' are by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen.

The winner will be announced on Oscars night, 23 March 2003.

Generally all Best Song nominees do perform during the telecast - but just in case - keep your fingers crossed!!

I hope they are all there, it would be cool to see Adam and Larry in what they would wear.

Usually every nominated track is featured during the show.

I'd love to see them perform that song-first time I'd ever hear it live, which would be interesting.

Congratulations to U2 for being nominated. I hope they win!

Man, they're just stacking up the awards within that band as of late, aren't they?

Not that that's a bad thing...
