No. 1 Secret for Bono's Happy Marriage

Here's a sweet accomplishment: U2's Bono has been happily married to the same woman for 23 years. Alison Hewson met Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, when she was just 12 years old. She says the reason their marriage is so successful is they allow each other to chase their goals, reports PA News.

The couple, who are the parents of daughters Jordan, 15, and Eve, 13, and sons Elijah, 5, and John Abraham, 3, say they work hard to make sure their children are not spoiled by the trappings of fame and fortune. They have taken the children to Sarajevo and South African townships to show them that life can be hard. Ali is well known in her home country of Ireland for campaigning for causes in which she believes. She once left Bono in charge of the kids while she drove an ambulance in Belarus. She has also done fundraising for the children of Chernobyl and conducted missions to Sarajevo and El Salvador. Someone even took a shot at her during one of these missions. Her latest venture is an ethical clothing line called Edun that she developed after trips to third world countries. "Our marriage has worked because we like each other, because we talk to each other, and we are passionate about what we do. We allow each other to pursue our goals," Ali told PA News.

Fun facts about Ali and Bono:
--They met when Ali was just 12 years old.
--Even at that tender age they would talk about what was wrong with the world.
--She calls him "B."
--He may travel a lot, but he calls home a lot.
--"The Sweetest Thing" was written after he missed her birthday one year. --When the band became famous in the 1980s, Ali feared she would lose Bono.
--Jordan plays the piano and Eve plays drums. Jordan told PA News, "He wants us to turn it down, but he will never ask us too. He knows that would be so not cool."
