I don't want Pleba to go away...I don't want to turn into a pillar of salt...but I don't quite know what the solution is. I only know that I come here less and less lately, which makes me sad, cos this place is in my blood now...like a disease of the mind that you never want to recover from...and it may be the only thing that keeps me going and keeps me sane until the next U2 tour!

You cant just 'not click there' 'dont open it' 'dont read it'. Its THERE and there is nothing stopping 13 yr olds from opening the threads.

And the more 13 yr olds that come in here the more this place will have to be moderated, until Elvis decides whether or not to change the age restrictions of people signing up.

do you want to know how i learned a lot about sex? i read nc17 fanfiction. (not U2) it wasn't dirty, but it was a lot more truthful then anything mentioned on these boards. i was 13 at the time. i read it on the internet. it made me a lot more street wise then i might have been. a 13 year old today is not as young as you may think. not to mention that the number of under 15 year olds on this forum is severly limited compared to the number of 20-40 year olds.

every forum should be moderated. we should moderate what would offend any U2 fan, whether they are 13 or 40. but we shouldn't moderate what might offend a 13 year old, but it would be taking as a joke to a 40 year old. i think we should be fair to the adults on this board.

What the heck? I leave for one lousy week, and I come back and POOF! PLEBA is in disarray! The vending machines must be down...

Anyway, first off, I can't believe this thread is this big. I mean, MAN! And here I go, making it longer. *sigh*

Second, please lay off Echo a touch. She has some valid points, and some invalid ones, as do we all. However, she isn't alone in her distress. I know that others share her opinions, but Echo is the only one who's voiced them. Personally, I think that is pretty damn comendable. Unfortunatly, she's been singled out because she was bold enough to say something. Please keep in mind she's not alone.

Now, we all know that I am by no means an old-school PLEBAn. And I don't really keep up with every thread like some of us. However, I'm of the opinion (as I know many of you are) that if you don't like it, then don't come here. Or don't read things. If you see a thread entitled "I had hot monkey love with Bono in a puddle of mud" and that kind of thing disagrees with you, don't read it. I see things all the time that don't interest me. Most of them are pic threads of various male genitalia. Personally, I'm happy with my own, so that kind of thing I don't look at (unless I feel like captioning...heh).
As far as the "young'uns" around here...there aren't any pictures here that aren't in a public forum somewhere. There isn't anything that I've seen that would make me worry for the moral integrity of young PLEBAns. I?m of themind that if a ?kid? is going to try to find smut, porn, etc, they are going to find it. I?ve come across many a site that is downright freakish, but minors can easily find it. Also, why don?t we actually ask the ?minors? here if they have a problem with it. We may find that they don?t mind/really enjoy it.

As far as people ?slamming? each other?what the hell?! I understand it?s easy to let people get under your skin, but we need to come together and realize our one true goal: PRAISE OF U2!!

I realize I?m not a tried and true ?old school? PLEBAn, and I?m male to boot, but I do so loves me my rumbles?.*wipes blood from lips* And this was a good one.

Actually, yes, I did. And I agree. There is no way to keep a 13yr old from going there. However, much of what is posted here isn't what I would call "X-Rated." Most, if not all of the pics are from public forums. I'm sure even the fabled Rugby Pic *watches Mona fall off something* is in a public forum other than PLEBA. So far, the stories and such that I've read is far from pornographic or smut. R rated at best. Keep in mind that many of these "kids" have seen American Pie 1 & 2, Scary Movie, and the like. Compared to some of that, we're friggin' Sesame Street.

OMG I'm gonna cry harder than I do when I watch "The Wonder Years" I seriously cry during that show.

But before I create a flood (more biblical allusions) of tears

1. There was that one thread (not on PLEBA) *dodges tomatoes and lettuce lettuce love you lettuce* where people posted specific phrases that I have become known to use and suggested getting rid of them. This was said to be a joke, but to me it wasn't. When something is that singularly offensive, that's where I think we need to draw the line. Please don't anyone argue that one point I have just made.

2. I didn't think Bono's crotch offended anyone, but I suppose it does. I don't remember how PLEBA was before I started posting here, but recently I kept getting the sense that it was kind of MY fault that people made fun of the rampant hormonal displays. Honestly.

3. I talk to several ppl off of PLEBA, including Echo. I'm serving as her secretary. Don't worry, ScottPhisto

And I'm serving as me own secretary, although when I write memos I don't know who to give them to so mainly I eat them. HOWEVER if anyone has a question or comment or anything my email is Monita02@hotmail.com

4. If you are truly insulted by something, please let me know and I will do what is in my power to do something about it. Criticism on other forums or threads about ANYONE is not appreciated and is not called for.

5. Also, PLEBA is supposed to be fun; you might not know everything that's going on in someone's life. Things that don't seem that important to one person might be the world to another. REMEMBER: Your ugliness could be someone else's beauty.

Folks, my opinion is that this is going around in circles. The only thing we've accomplished is that we all have a variety of issues with the current incarnation of PLEBA.

I think this really comes down to the matter of what is appropriate or not in the forum. But who really can say where to draw the line? What may be considered disgusting or vulgar by one person may be tolerable or even inoffensive to another.

And there is no way to please everybody in this forum. The 13-year-olds wouldn't want to be restricted from particular posts, the adults wouldn't want to be pressured to make their posts G-rated so everybody could read them. It is all a matter of personal virtues and attitudes toward the posts here.

I read most of the posts here, but I often don't respond. It could be either because I find it somewhat offensive, when others obviously don't, or I just don't feel comfortable responding to the message in a post. So yes, there is some stuff that does offend me, but I don't complain because it is not my place to say that something is not appropriate. First, I'm not a mod. Second, I value my ability to post whatever I wish, so I don't feel I have the right to criticize another person's thoughts, unless it is in an obviously sarcastic or no-offense kind of way, and even then I try to avoid that.

So, I hope nobody feels like I was being critical in my post. This is just how I view this situation, and it may change as I find out more information and I hear more from all sides of this. But we should all stop for a moment and remember why we are here in the first place.

i skip over the posts i don't understand or don't care to understand, but there needs to be some order in this place. i don't think we can have a positive U2 environment for all fans without some set rules.

ultimately, it is up to Elvis to decide how to improve Pleba. this is the one place on interference where i feel most at home, so hopefully this will continue to be a fun place for all involved.
