I've never thought of "Streets" as a negative song!!

If any of it is negative it's the part about building love just to burn it down. But that's not the point of the song. The point of the song is to move beyond that.

I thought it was about heaven, not hell.

A lot of the people at the REM message board I go to think that Bono's antics are annoying, and there are many many times of me and a few other people sitting there having to explain to them about Bono. I like to think that a lot of people don't understand it. I don't know, it saddens me to think that, Bono is a great guy I think.

Do you still love Bono and U2? That's what I thought! You can't make someone else see what we see in Bono and you must face the fact that there are a LOT of people who just don't like him, and there are also a LOT of people who hate him with a passion and love to talk about it!

Negative people will always look for something to be negative about, it's in their nature. Don't be down about it

Thanks so much girlies... I know I shouldn't let that stuff get to me (cause I hear a lot of the crap Bono gets)

But PLEBA has made me forget all the cynics who criticize the band and everything they do, cause everyone here only finds the good in what they do... I guess I've been looking at the band and the world through rose-colored glasses, and I'm gonna keep them on

I find it rather amusing that one of the few things those U2-bashers are going off on are Bono's political views.

What did his views have to do with anything last night? Nothing.

It was about the music. They played uplifting songs to do just that; uplift a nation in a time when it is needed the most.

people at my school were all criticizing U2 today. My history teacher was all like, "No one wants to wanna watch Bone-o" and then to me he's like "I suggest you get some therapy."
Well "FOAD" was what came outta my mouth, then I gave him the Irish Bird, yeah! Tho, my Literature teacher had a fight with him too (she's a U2 fan) and tried to straighten him out.

WTF do these people know? Obviously they haven't heard good music. Obviously they haven't seen what Bono has done for the world.
I think they should take a chill pill, kiss their pimpled arses, shut the hell up, and FOAD.
I hate people like that, who see the world so negatively, who can't say anything positive, who won't except something the way it is.
And as for my history teach...he should do some research before he opens his mouth again.

I have to let off this steam somewhere.. here's some of my favourite quotes:

OMG! i just saw that too WildHoney! Isn't that a load of garbage?! ppl need to get a life..and "streets" about hell? lol sorta funny though how ppl can speak w/o knowing a thing! i thought u2 did an amazing job last nite and even if i wasn't a u2 fan i'd still say they they were awesome in showing the names, and bono having the flag lining the inside of his jacket etc. if anything their performance shows their respect and love for america and americans, and the victims of sept.11th. everyone i've spoken w/....even non u2 fans said their performance was really beautiful and uplifting. just the other day i was w/my mentor/advisor and we were talking about the tribute to heroes special and she goes, "u know, that song they did was so beautiful and i thought they were really great!"
but u know what, it's ok b/c we know they are the best out there and some ppl i guess just don't know how to respond to a band that's genuine....oh yea another thing that got me mad was that i was told that some ppl had the audacity to say that bono is really bald! just goes to show what they know, and that they really don't have anything bad to say about u2 if that's the only thing they can come up w/. *sheesh*...oh and one more thing i was mad about...i mean ppl kept pointing out how "inappropiate" u2 was...well what about last year w/britney spears exposing herself to kingdom come...i don't remember anyone saying that was inappropiate! ok that's enough outta me...lol and this was gonna be a short post!
