Hi Plebans! It has been so long since I've posted in here, I'm sure that most of you don't remember me! I have missed this place!

Anyway, it is tradition in my family every New Years to read last year's resolutions and then grade ourselves on how we did (usually we fail miserably!). I thought that might be fun to do here, and of course set up new resolutions for 2003.

Here is last year's link so you can review what you resolved last time.

http://forum2.interference.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43014&highlight=resolutions

OK, I'll begin. My resolutions were:

1) Lose those damned 20 lbs!!!!!!!!!
2) Read more books and fewer magazines.
3) Write a novel
4) Improve my career outlook
5) Pay down the debts
6) Try to be happier
7) Try to be less self centred

1) I lost about 12 lbs, but by stuffing myself with shortbread, eggnogg and other fattening foods, have gained back most of it. Now that I am dancing with Elevation, I have to knuckled down and lose at least 10 before I permit myself to dance with them again. :sigh: I grade myself about 25% for partial acomplishment.

2) 100% for this one.

3) 0%. The reason I haven't written a book is because I refuse to start my novel until I finish all the Stories for Pleba Girls as promised. I just feel that I have to do it. I have gone through a major writers' block lately, but am almost done the latest story, so hopefully I will get them finished soon!!

4) 100% I have an excellent job with the Humane Society. In fact, I am so busy that that's why I haven't been on Pleba or writing stories!

5) 80% Doing pretty well.....not done yet, but getting there.

6) 10% I am generally not a very happy person...need to figure out why. There is no reason for me to not be ecstatic with the life I lead, and that makes me feel guilty, which makes me more unhappy.

7) 50% I spend half my life thinking about my friends and half thinking about myself. Probably more, actually.

Here are my resolutions for this year.....

1) Go to ballet at least once a week, and the gym at least twice a week without fail.

2) Lose those (&%*$%$$#@@ 15lbs!!!!!!

3) Finish Pleba Series

4) Start book.

5) Try to be a better person overall and appreciate things more.

OK guys, let's hear from you! :) If you weren't on last year's thread, feel free to tell us what you resolved and how you did!

Why can I remember such stuff, but no important things???

I didn't post in that thread back then, but I do remember you, Mrs. Edge. And your belly dancing activities.

1) Lose 10 Pounds
2) Start Working Out
3) Not smoke anymore
4) Write my first fanfiction

I don't post very often anymore but since I was part of last years thread I thought that I would post here...

1) 50% I lost about 5 lbs. this year. Of course, I likely gained it back over the holidays the past few days....
2) 15% I suck at working out. I go to the gym much less now then I did last year at this time. However, I moved to the city in the last year and sold my car so now I have to walk to the streetcars, subways, work etc. and I actually get more exercise then I used to.
3) Negative 100% I started smoking fully again in the last year. Damnit. I guess that I have to have the same resolution again next year.
4) 100% I wrote about a dozen stories at the beginning of the year!

My resolutions this year! Some of which sound very familiar.

1) Eat Healthier
2) Start a work out program
3) Learn to be happy for all of the wonderful things in my life
4) Be better with finances
5) Work towards learning what I can at work to be more promotable
6) Complete 3 Credits with 85% plus averages towards my CHRPAO

Merry Christmas Plebans' and Happy New Year.

:hmm: I don't really remember what my resolutions were last year...probably to lose weight...but I think I gained 2 pounds since last year so that obviously didn't work!

This year I resolve to...

1. Lose 10-15 pounds by the end of June so I'll look and feel better when I go to Ireland.
2. Be less self-absorbed... It wasn't until very recently that I figured out how much time I waste obsessing about myself. I want to try to think about other people more and be more adult about solving problems.
3. Be less uptight.

 I sincerely hope I can get all of these done!

Didn't post in last year's thread...but for 2003:

1. Work up to my ability in school. Not settle for my usual attitude of "I could be a genius if I weren't so lazy..." and then stick with being lazy. MUST....WORK....!

2. Get better at geetar

3. Learn how to make e-poetry

4. Not spend money on so many random things

5. Be a better girlfriend :shifty:

6. Learn about my closest friends

7. Write Write Write

I'm not going to post mine here... coz then I'd feel compelled to actually do those things. :shifty:

Here's mine for 2003:

1. Lose some weight (I was really skinny in Ireland but gained it when I moved back to America...all the junk food LOL but it's sooooo good)

2. Play my guitar more (I bought one about 4 months ago and my boyfriend has played it more than I have...i'm always lazy about it lol)

3. Be there more for my friends (I'm kinda bad about this since they're spread all over the world...I get lazy sometimes about writing them e-mails but I promise i'll do better!!!!)

4. Be more involved in PLEBA (since I left for Dublin I didn't really write in PLEBA but now I promise! You won't be able to get rid of me :D )

My Resolutions v.2003

  1. do better in school
  2. try to be more active ... which means no more sitting around the house i guess...
  3. eat healthy (no junk food!)
  4. reduce procrastination :shifty:
    [/list=1]

1. Stop lying to my self. ie these jeans will fit once I lose 5 lbs, I should buy them for inspiration.

2. Don't leave dishes in the sink

3. DO something with my degree besides go to grad school

4. And, ummmm....be more creative.

Those were last year's resolutions, let's see how I did....

Well, I've lost 30 lbs this year so those jeans are actually too big on me now. :D

I have a sink full of dirty dishes as I type this so I have failed miserably.

I start student teaching in January so I will be doing something with my degree!

I would have to give myself a 75%. Not too bad. Now to start making new resolutions.....

wow, Jess, you found my old post! Okay here's mine from last year:
#1 with a bullet for me: FIND A JOB.

And the usual: lose weight, get organized, get my sh*t together, blah de blah blah....
Well, I'm very happy to say that I DID find a wonderful job, it'll be a year in January, yay! :D And I am a *bit* more organized, tho it's still a constant struggle.

So here's what's in store for 2003:

1. Lose weight....the healthy way: slowly.
2. Re-learn how to eat: cut out all the rice, pasta, breads, etc., that I'm constantly eating and gaining from.
3. EXERCISE. Yoga, stretching, walking - just *something!*
4. STOP SPENDING MONEY like it grows on trees.!!!
5. Get more involved in my church, and deepen my faith [talk the talk AND walk the walk].
6. Save money for a trip somewhere - possibly Europe?
7. That job I got? Do some climbing in it...BUT:
8. Make sure to LEAVE WORK ON TIME. Don't stay till 8-9:00.
9. Get to to bed before midnight every night! :scream:
10. Stop living so much of a "hermit" lifestyle. Get out more.

I think 10 is the most I've ever put upon myself...it's going to be an uphill battle, but I hope to conquer most of them! HAPPY 2003 EVERYBODY!!!

i wasn't here last year......but......this year i am......so here goes:

1. being realistic...either lose weight or be happy with the weight i'm at.

2. add to my repetoir of guitar chords (read: know more than 3)

3. write more poetry...i have gotten out of the habit.

4. stop swearing...completely...*washes mouth out with soap*

i fear if i add more i'll accomplish none of them...so i'll leave it at that. i mean, this'll be a hard year...i swear a lot! ;) :D

Wow! WildHoneyAlways, how did you do that??? Any secrets to impart?

Disco, you are the most religious person I know, how you could possibly DEEPEN your faith is beyond me! I think it's a great idea getting out of the office, I for one try to make sure I am out by 5 whenever possible. There's too much important stuff to do to be hanging out at the office I think.

All these guitar players....sigh I wish I knew how to play ONE chord, let alone three! I am very impressed.

Here's an idea I had in the LS resolutions thread, I thought I'd mention it here, considering Plebans are such a supportive bunch:

Maybe we should sign up partners to help us with certain resoultions. Kind of like personal resolution trainers! So for example, the one partner would check in on the other one daily or weekly and see how they were doing, and offer words of encouragement, etc. The partners could even be assigned by someone, so it's a surprise who's checking in on you, kind of like with the holiday card exchange.

I would be willing to say "am I bugging you, I DO mean to bug ya!" to anyone who needs it!

:D

I wasn't here last year, but I can remember I had 2 resolutions for 2002:
1) Stop smoking

2) Travel the world

well, I stopped smoking for a total of 4 weeks last year. But I did quit my job, move out of my house and sell my car and spend 4 months travelling the US, New Zealand, Austalia and the South Pacific. I came back with no job, no car, no house and no money. I'm now living with my mum again and working in the local pub, but I'm sooooo glad I did it.

I have a few resolutions this year:

1) Stop smoking. I am a chronic asthmatic and if I don't stop smoking soon I have been told I will end up in a wheelchair by the time I'm 35 (I'm 25). I haven't smoked since new year (only 3 days so far) and am hopeful.
2) Write to radio stations to try to get some work - probably voluntary work. My university degree is in media production specialising in radio, so I really want to do something useful and enjoyable with my degree.
3) Move to Dublin. My brother has told me he would like to come too. Hopefully I will be able to save some money, and if I manage to get some voluntary work at a radio station at home, hopefully I could follow it up with the same thing in Dublin.

I'm appearing really over-the-top ambitious here, but if I don't dream, I figure I'll never achieve anything. And I managed 50% last year.....:D

i wasn't here last year either but here's my resolutions: (someone please give me a kick in the a$$ if i give up).

1. get off my lazy a$$...i;m such a hermit and i feel that life is passing me by. i'm sooooo boring. :sigh: need to be more active and maybe get a hobbie...any suggestions?

2. keep in touch with my friends more: with my crazy work schecule (2 jobs both shift work) i don't have much free time but it seems i keep using that as an excuse not to be a good friend, so that has to change.

3. stop worrying and taking life too seriously. i have to realize that sometimes stuff i just can't change and i have to learn to deal with things better. (this is going to be a real tough one for me)

Mrs. Edge--> After I took a very bad picture at Sam's Club I knew it was time to lose lbs. My secret was eating yogurt every morning and when I craved something sweet and running just one mile every day. From warm up to cool down it only took 20-25 minutes. I did this seven days a week for two months then cut back to 3-4 days a week. I haven't been able to lose the last 10 pounds yet but that is my new resolution. However! I didn't gain any weight this holiday season, in fact I lost a pound so only 9 more to go! hooray!

Anyway....more resolutions...

1. Make best friend appreciate me more

2. stop being a slacker

3. Learn to let things go....

i remember everyone but i tend to get the mixed up with other people in the process of remembering. fortunetly "mrs. edge" is not a very forgetful name.

new year's resolutions...

i didn't make any real resolutions. well, i guess i kind of did, but i didn't call them that. i kinda called it a to do list...things that are more likely to get done on a to do list than on a new year's resolution list

1. get in shape before ultimate frisbee starts--go running! i don't care if there's snow on the ground, get your ass outside!

2. finish reading the last lord of the rings book--you've been on page 62 since july!

3. learn how to play the piano part intro thingie from "the hands that built america" that can be heard really well on the best of dvd

there were a few more things, mostly books to read and music i told people i'd listen to...i don't think i'd know where to begin with something liike "be a happier person"

i already did number 3!!i'm so happy...it was so much fun, i spent a good hour sitting on the floor with two pairs of headphones on until i played it right...or i think i played it right...

I'm glad you think my name is memorable! :D

Yes, "be a happier" person requires a LOT of work. On the plus side, I've already lost 5lbs of my holiday eating weight.

Am waiting for MONAVOX to get me her info form before writing next story.

WildHoneyAlways, good for you! It's probably the running, excercise does wonders. I just wish I didn't HATE working out so much!
