just a tidbit
I have no clue about the freeware, but I use Jasc's Animation Shop to make my gifs, and it's wonderful, really easy to use. It comes with Paint Shop Pro (PSP) 7. And if anyone lives near a CompUSA, they're currently trying to get rid of PSP 7 cuz version 8 is coming out... so with a rebate, you can get PSP/Animation Shop v.7 for only $20, which is a REALLY good deal cuz the software is normally $80+. I think anyone who would like to get into photo editing would be happy with the software... it's the next best thing to Abode's Photoshop, it really is
