Well, they knew they were writing it for Tina to sing and although you could say it sounds like Macphisto it really sounds more to me like Bono doing Tina. When he writes for other people he tries to sing in their voice.

Yes, I think he is trying to interpret it as it was Tina, which would be the right thing to do when you know who you are writing for.

the last Bond theme was awesome in the cinema (I can't recall the band's name) but it was new and fresh.. I'd go for Amy she has a great voice and can sing in the Bassey tradition with a bit of contemporary

It was Chris Cornell, from Soundgarden, on his own. and it was perfect for the kind of movie Casino Royale was, raw and violent!

and for Daniel Craig

May I refer you to Wave of Sorrow. It's not what it used to be.

May I refer you to the very same song at the Union Chapel gig. His voice is stronger than it has been in years.

And WOS is a "bad" example because it's actually a good example; his voice is very good on the album version.

His has gotten a higher pitch lately. It's whinier.

I agree that Bono tends to sing higher these days - sometimes too high. But he still has a beautiful low register, which he should use more often. I felt that at the Islington gig, his voice was very rich and powerful, I hope he can keep that for the new album and the next live performances.

And being able to whine can also be a strength for a singer.

This is the demo Bono and Edge did of the Goldeneye theme that they wrote for Tina Turner to perform, so it was written/recorded late 94, early 95ish.

I was told that Edge was reportedly upset his guitar work was cut from the final version that made the soundtrack.
