I was surprised to find out there were two other people here who don't like to goof around in the chat. It seems the "chat" clique has taken over this forum and if you are not of that crowd you are an outsider. It's just like high school! Please, don't flame me, I do NOT want trouble, I was just very curious as to if there are any other PLEBA girls who don't go to the chat. Thank you.

I don't go to chat...I went the first three or four times, but then school started to get busy...

And please chat girls you know I love you! Once school is out I will come!!!

But having said that, I don't go to chat, and I don't feel left out...being left out is just a state of mind...

If you feel left out...go chat.

Easy as that.

Besides...the idea of PLEBA in my mind is to get closer to people...to form friendships...MONA!!! JULIE!!!

I don't really know where I am going with this, but being one who does not chat, I just felt like saying I don't feel left out, I think the girls try to include everyone, but of course they are going to have inside jokes...we all do...but it's not like they wouldn't explain them if you asked them to.

well, I don't do the interference chat much (yeah, I feel like an outsider when I do, ad there are always 6 "conversations" going on over each other, it makes me nuts), but I'm on AIM/MSN/Yahoo chat pretty much all the time! (hint hint)
smile.gif

I think you might be over-estimating how many of us participate in chat Stormy. There is a group of maybe 10 serious chat participants and that's out of about 40 that have AIM accounts. Most of the people on that list have not been to a single chat or have been in 1 or 2 and didn't care for it.

Most nights the average size of the chat room is 7 to 10 people, not a huge number compared to how many of us post in PLEBA. I only chat on average 1 or 2 nights per week and honestly don't feel like I'm part of any special "clique" or group.

I'm sorry you feel like things have changed and you feel left out but I think the majority of regular PLEBA posters DO NOT participate in chat at all.

I don't have the time and secondly English isn't my mother tongue.

lol. I've been in and out a few times. I'm on AIM, MSN, and Yahoo quite often and chat with lots of people from the forum tho. I don't see any cliques going on re: PLEBA chat. Perhaps its a matter of perception

Ok I originally posted this in Stormy's other thread, but it is better suited for this thread...I have also included Laura's post...I felt it made a good point.

i'm new here (posting wise) but i've been chatting every night since i discovered pleba and got up the courage to go. i love chat, and it's really fun for me. i'm not saying that you should too, but i'm saying you shouldn't act like we are purposefully snubbing you or anything! i love your pics, and i am very thankful that you post them for me! i chatted for weeks before i could post, and i met and talked to some of the nicest girls in the world in doing so. have you ever even tried chatting, cause it's hard for me to believe that it's no fun at all! ok, i'm done rambling now.
in conclusion, come to chat some time, continue to post your great pics (esp adam ), and don't feel like we don't like you cause we do!

Just because you feel like chat is not your thing, doesn't mean you should make others feel bad for enjoying it. Which may not be your intent, but essentially that is what you are doing Stormy.

I hold no bad blood towards anyone chat or non-chat...that distinction is just silly.

I will delete my post in the other thread so it does not interupt the picture-athon! Very hot pics by the way! I love some of the "younger days" pics!!!

I do go to chat, however I do not go to chat every night, nor do I wish to. I don't feel that I am left out at all because of it. I do have people here that I am closer to then other's, but I don't feel like I am part of any sort of clique. I think that it is just natural to make friends with people that have similar intrests, and lifestyles.

I love my PLEBA sisters, and they are totally there for me whenever I need them. In fact, when I was down and upset the other night I did go to chat, and you guys cheered me up. I don't think that I could ask for a better group of on line friends, and that includes those of you that chat, and those of you that don't!!

Stormy, we love ya'. Please stop being so down on yourself

I finally figured out how to access the PLEBA chat and now I don't have AOL anymore.

I'd only been on once. I am not online too much at night, maybe 3 nights out of the week and maybe one of those nights I might try to get into the chat.

It's great that it is there for those that enjoy it every day. I thought it was fun, I just don't have a lot of time to devote to it. I'll probably pop in again if I can figure out how to access AIM w.o AOL ( I use MSN now)...

i am sorry you feel left out stormy. pleba chat was never designed to be an "exclusive" club. Everyone is invited but not all participate. BAW is right there is only 10 people if not less who are in the AIM pleba chat room on a nightly basis. I have made great friends by using AIM chat. these girls and some of the guys who are AIM have made me feel a lot better when i am down and have allowed me to vent when problems arise. I encourage you to join in on a chat sometime. you may or may not like it.

I dont think you have to have 'chat' in common to get along with the people here and enjoy yourselves. To be honest this thread seems a little 'cliquish' to me. Just because you dont chat doesnt mean you dont have your love for U2 in common with everyone here!

Relax Stormy.

I went to chat twice for about 2 minutes each time.

Let's face it...I'm a 35 year old married woman with kids. What do I have in common with a 17 or 18 year old high school girl or a 22 year old college girl? Our everyday experiences are different, we socialize differently, we have different problems and concerns. Hell, I have teenage kids that have more in common with some of the younger girls here.

But, what we do have in common is the most important thing...we are here because we love U2. Once I am here, age, common interests, lifestyles...those things just don't matter. What does matter is we all have a mutual interest in the greatest band on the planet.

As an added bonus, I have made some great friendships that I treasure just as much, if not more, than the friendships I have in the "real world." We are truly there for each other and it goes beyond the superficial things like posting hot pics. That is great and a lot of fun but I also know I can count on my PLEBA sisters when I need something. If I would have limited myself to interacting only with the girls I had something in common with, I never would have met most of the girls here that I consider my friends.

I am all for friendships based on having something in common but I think this would be a really boring place if we had the same interests (other than U2). We all bring something special and different to PLEBA and that's what makes it so much fun.

Again, I'm sorry you are feeling so left out Stormy and we are all trying to reach out and make you feel more welcome but it can only work if you want it to. Please reconsider and try to get know us a little better.

Yes, I am feeling left out but it's no one's fault. Like I said in my other thread I just don't have anything in common with anyone here. But I will still come around for U2 news, and I like posting my pics, and I'm glad some of you like them!

Hi, Stormy! I just want you to know that the chat stuff isn't meant to be exclusive at all. I chat a few times a week, but I don't even read the chat threads here, lol! I guess I can kinda see where you're coming from, me being of Babyface status and all, but once I started chatting, It became easier to jump right into conversations, even if I didn't know anyone or know what anyone was talking about. No one will judge you if you are new or don't chat every night. Thats the great thing about PLEBA. I've been on other boards/chats totally unrelated to U2 that really ARE cliquey, but one reason why I joined PLEBA was because its so accepting. Come to chat and be my friend!

I don't chat cause I don't have time. I share the internet with my brother and usually only get about an hour online each night. In that time, I do my emails, PLEBA, the rest of Interference, and a Madonna forum. I don't have the time to sit and watch a chatroom. I've been in there before, and it can be fun. (Though inside jokes run rampant.)

I have no bad feelings against anyone, you girls know I love you all!!!

Very well said! And exactly where I'm coming from also.

Another argument for not going in chat is that you *really* don't always know who you are chatting with. I've had nightmarish scenarios unfold (not here of course) from other chat communities. People are not always who they seem or who they say they are. And although I really do enjoy PLEBA and the rest of the Interlanders, I cut my losses and don't chat at all.

yeah, except for your love of a certain Irish band, which is all you need... we get together in PLEBA because we have ONE thing in common. We don't require anything other than that.

I don't chat because I just don't have the time. I've never really thought about whether or not I would like to, so I don't feel "left out" at all. I enjoy coming to PLEBA and that's enough for me, I guess.
I just think of U2 as being big enough for everybody

Couple of comments....

1) PLEBA chat technically shouldn't be called "PLEBA chat" because it is in no way endorsed by the Interference community.

2) "PLEBA chat" sprung out of Grammy night 2002, when a bunch of people who were hanging around the board decided to go real time
biggrin.gif

3) PLEBA is not all about chat. In fact, I, personally, have been posting on the board more than talking in chat these days.

4) The chat every night is simply a place for people to get together...people who we've met through the board and talk to online. There is no prerequisite for being in a certain clique or liking a certain member of the band...the porn is distributed equally!
biggrin.gif

5) On the topic of the "inside jokes"...they really aren't inside at all. Anyone who comes into the room and wonders about something should just ask. We are all willing to explain things...in fact, we LIKE explaining things over and over again!
smile.gif
And usually the jokes spill over to the board anyway...so I would invite anyone who wonders what something means to ask about it! Nothing is really secret here at all.

6) Okay, so that wasn't a COUPLE that was a lot
wink.gif
But anyway, I think those things are all that I wanted to address...I think it's sad that people feel left out, because there is no reason to be. In PLEBA we make our own fun and join in when others are having fun that we want to be a part of! And I personally, feel like I've really found a home here. I have made so many friends who I actually consider closer than friends irl! So hugs to everyone and I hope people just jump right into the fun!

Okay...I'm done now, I swear!

I do, too. I am mostly on during the day, not at night, because of sharing reasons and I rarely get to join the chat.

I agree. Also, don't forget the Frictionary ( http://www.vodkatea.com/g/glossary.asp?gid=165 ) is regularly updated, so if you are embarassed to ask, you can just look it up. Even if it isn't there, just wait a few days and it's bound to be added.

No time to chat.

I tried one night from home and it didn't work. I have AIM, but I couldn't enter the room. Me and computers are not a good combo.

I also haven't been on PLEBA chat. Like some of you mentioned I also do not have time. Finals are coming up and it seems that every week a report is due. Also I can't go online after 11:00 pm (dumb phone connection, I really need a cable connection if I actually had cable and could afford it). I don't feel left out thanks to this forum and the PLEBA gals.

The only "PLEBA" chats I've participated in were the Orgasmatron Club chats a few months back. I was always interested in the AIM chats and a little jealous of the fun people claimed to be having, but I just got a new job and will be working two jobs until my teaching commitment is over. Ergo, I don't have the time to chat, and I can deal with that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My post count may not be high, but I've been here awhile and have seen people and "cliques" come and go at PLEBA. Don't forget, this is just the internet and nothing to get your panties in a wad about. If you want to chat, do it. If you don't want to chat, cool. Just enjoy the PLEBA experience for what it's worth and direct your energy toward the really important things in life.

And if there will be any more Orgasmatron chats, could someone let me know? Like I said, with the two jobs, I'm a little fried and don't get to interference as much. babyswan11@hotmail.com Peace!

I've only been to chat 2 or 3 times. Truth is most of the time I just forget. All the times I went in someone just saw I was online and invited me in. They aren't cliquey at all. It takes up so much time and it's hard for me to multitask, but when I do go I enjoy myself. Try not to get so down on yourself Stormy. I don't talk to PLEBAns very often, but I don't feel left out.
