PLEBA is taking over my life

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Well, not really PLEBA the forum, but the men in the acronym. These guys are seriously taking over, and I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. I mean, I feel better, am a nicer person, and have happier thoughts, but my goodness, everything is U2. At work, I sing U2 songs to myself, I think odd, weird thoughts about U2, and I count the hours until I can be at home with them. At home it's worse... I read somewhere in the confessionals about someone getting burned out on U2. I don't think that's happening to me, but it's a scary thought.

Does this insane obsession happen to anyone else? I wanted to post it here instead of the confessional because you ladies are much nicer.

Yeah your not alone. Candysroom on here said the other week that my life was like a web and U2 are at the centre of it and the thing is it's true. Whether it is healthy or not I need U2 so there is nothing I can do about it. Just wanted you to know you are not alone. Hope I didn't freak anyone with the web thing but it wasn't me who said it although I do agree with it and I had never thought of it like that.

YAY! The washington monument....I miss living in DC. I really do.

In Pittsburgh all I get to see is this giant bottle of Heinz ketchup "pouring" until it's empty. It's really little red lights that go out...

I've been meaning to come into this thread for days now, sorry I'm so late! I just wanted to second what Bono's American Wife says, by guaranteeing that U2 obsession doesn't stop at age 24. I'm 30, and if anything, I love and am even MORE obsessed with U2 than 15 years ago when this started.

You'd think that listening to the same songs and bootlegs all the way to and from work would wear thin after awhile, but I just become more enamoured of them. My obsession goes on at work of course, and I finally got the guy who shares my office to let me play U2 LOUDLY when they are on the radio, but he has BANNED me from singing along. He gets v. mad when I do! LOL!
biggrin.gif
(he always teases me that U2 are only famous because of Brian Eno, and that ISHFWILF is the sound of Eno!!)

The problem is internet access at work. In some ways I wish I didn't have it, but I couldn't live without it. I have done so much U2 related stuff that I have fallen behind, and now am completely SWAMPED! And when I'm swamped (and in BIG TROUBLE if I don't raise $100K by March), I tend to freeze up so that the only thing I'm capable of is...hanging out on this forum!

I know I haven't posted as much as I used to lately (due to writing 4 stories, and all the extra curricular activities I've taken on lately) but I still lurk whenever I can, and I just want to thank you all for making me feel normal.

My mom, who is normally pretty understanding (she is obsessed with certain ppl herself!) just can't understand that U2 is a whole LIFESTYLE (and not one that we deliberately chose, it just happens!) and you can't just turn it off like a tap. U2 really is ALWAYS in the background bubbling away, no matter what we do, and to us it is completely normal.

Mom thinks that I'm incredibly immature, and after seeing them live 6 times that "enough is enough" and now I have to concentrate on other things like maybe having a baby! BUT THERE IS NO ENOUGH!!!! *sigh*

Mrs.Edge ... I am going through the exact same thing!!! I work for a medical assocation. We have our Annual Scientic Meeting in NYC the first week in March. I am in charge of public relations and running the press room for the meeting. I am so far behind that I don't know how I will get all that I need to do done in the next few weeks.

The problem is, I can't stay away from PLEBA.

I guess deep down, I know everything will fall into place (it always does, and I work well under intense pressure).

I guess you're lucky in that you're boss is so cool. I actually don't get along with my boss very well (a totally different story).

Hersheys? That's flavoured wax. Cadbury's or Galaxy sauce would be better

Oh, that is such a relief to me! I also work quickly and better when I have an urgent deadline. It's true what you say, these things always do fall into place in the end....we just have to bust our asses at the last minute!

That's a bummer about your boss. Mine is really wonderful and fine with me taking time off to see U2, but I don't know if she'd be so cool with my internet stuff.

Good luck with your project (and your boss), I know it will work out in the end, and I am always here to commiserate with!

*Hugs Mrs Edge*

My new mantra with my boss is: It's just a moment, this time will pass ...

I think your right about bosses and the internet ... they most likely would not be cool with our using the internet for non-business purposes.

But hey ... at least I am not surfing for porn ...

*thinks of elevated Bono threads* *faints*

Erm ... well ... I could be looking at a lot worse.
