"PLEBA girls are scary..."-Bono

So, I know I should get a life, but yesterday I was lying awake in bed for hours cos I was thinking about the old days of PLEBA. I also had an interesting conversation about the Old Days with a friend - - and actually we came to no conclusion what has changed so that PLEBA became what it is now.

Of course the prohibition of U2 porn mainly.

But couldn't something happen so that PLEBA gets its reputation back. I mean even Bono knew about it - but I don't think he is interested in simple threads about pics of U2...and that is what is happening here mostly.

Since I can't answer the question how to make PLEBA a scary place again, I pass it on to you Plebans. Don't know if you like PLEBA the way it is now, but I read already often that a lot of ppl miss the Old Days...

No Elevated Bono threads of course, but there have to be other ways of having fun, right?

Those were the good old days when somebody always had to post *is scandalized* One thing I really miss is some iof the dearly departed people who used to be here. We hardly ever see Mona anymore, and when we do, it's like she's somebody else. I miss 'classic' Mona! I miss Icelady and how she used to have post a thons with me all day long and dig into her treasure chest. I miss Jody, Candys Room, UV2001, Novia, and the other girls from England. I miss a lot of people who don't come here anymore or don't get to come by often. I miss all the MacPhisto stuff. PLEBA mansion was interesting too. I miss the days when this wasn't just a social hall or chat room but a real U2 adventure. Of course, there's still a lot of that around too, as long as there are people who like to drool and swoon over our guys the original soul of PLEBA will live on forever! We've lost a lot of good people, but we have also gained some very good new people too and we still have a good time. So PLEBA life goes on

in that dictionary, if you saw a reference to the pants...well, those were the glory days for me. now i bask in the memories.

i remember this sweet dirty thread mona and i had about the chef photo that i love and commercials that could have been written to sell a restaraunt they would start...it was so funny...i just remember references to meat and sticks and something else....

I dont see anything wrong with the way PLEBA is. In fact I think we're pretty lenient considering that this is the largest U2 forum in the world and one of the most respected. Why do you girls feel like you need to post pictures of Bono and the band with erections and then discuss it?? This forum should be about our respect for the band, why we love them and how they change our lives, etc. If you want U2 porn I'm sure there are plenty of other forums to go to discuss that. Another thing some of you seem to forget is that there are a lot of young girls that post here and I dont think its fair for them to be subjected to the boys as "objects" rather than real people. And I'm not saying its not ok to post pictures and drool over them! Because I admit they are good looking. I honestly dont believe that Bono and the gang enjoy coming here and see them labled as objects, discussing their personal lives, their bare asses and what not.

I think you get away with plenty over here. And if its not enough to fullfill your sexual fantasies.. well.. you can fullfill them somewhere else I'm sure.

PLEBA will always change. With new people coming in everyday, its inevitable that things will change. That's life.. you just go with it.

Don't get me wrong, I do my fair share of drooling....I mean, until recently I was starting a lot of the Leather Day threads....

But, at the same time, I've also read most of those older threads (ie Elevated Bono) so I know what I think I'm talking about.

PLEBA is cool.......maybe tame to some people but I think it serves its purpose.
I try to keep my gutter brain out of here....I mean, last night in a little tiny PLEBA chat a few of us discussed some pretty funny stuff.....but I don't think I would have posted it here.

I'm all about the picture threads and though I might not join in much anymore I still lurk through them looking for new stuff. I love how there are threads about them laughing or in cars or whatever.........its good clean fun, y'know what I mean?

I agree with Sicy PLEBA is great...... I love how it is right now....

I almost fell of my chair when I read that.

Mona is to blame for the change in PLEBA! That little bitch went and got herself a real man, leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves! Seriously, though, we've lost a lot of old members. But I don't blame PLEBA for this. Many, like Mona, went and got lives.

Eh, PLEBA is an ever changing place. It was different when I came here in may of 2001, it went through the virginal Mona phase, the Echo phase, the pants/Elizabeth/Kristie phase, the banning of elevated Bono, and now we are in sort of a lukewarm phase. I personally don't blame the "prohibition of U2 porn" I blame those god damn subforums. While their intentions are noble, it breaks the flow of PLEBA. I liked coming in here several times a day and always seeing new threads. So what if they didn't all involve U2? It's not like anyone is accusing us of not being U2 fans. Some of the best threads don't even mention the boys. But now, you can't start a thread in the main forum if it doesn't relate to U2. Try to do that and Bonochick gets crazy on your ass and throws your thread in the shady "PLEBAn" section. That's the place where threads go to die! It's dead in their man! And the fanfiction seciton is a disgrace.

Okay, that's my 2 cents on why PLEBA has a new feel to it. Take it for what you will, don't put to much value in it. I'll keep coming to PLEBA regardless of it's changes.

And Bonochick is just doing her job, and I think she's going a great job as a matter of fact.

But I am blaming the sub forums! What the hell is wrong with disarray!? The real world is so busy trying to keep things in order, I like some chaos in my life when I come online. I agree! Especially the part I highlighted. That's what this place is all about. I have often worried what would happen if they stopped by, and what they would think of us, and if they might even get their feelings hurt. There is a lot of fun we can have here without crossing the line of decency. I agree with the threads that have been closed- how do you think the band would feel about threads laughing at bare butts and embarrassing pics of their hair? (or head with no beanie?) Do you think they'd want us to discuss if they've been unfaithful, or the size of their privates? They may be famous but they have feelings too. If we are their fans we should respect them as people, and that should be more important than the momentary shock value that may come from a controversial pic or the giggles you'd get from your friends. I don't mean to be a drag, but I LOVE this band- not just the music, not just for entertainment, I CARE about the band members and their families as people with emotions and feelings and I don't want to do anything they wouldn't want me to do, or hurt or humiliate them in any way.

We have gotten away with a lot here, but this is a well known and respected forum and the band or their families probably do drop in. We can have a lot of fun without stepping over the boundaries of decency and respect for the band and their families. I think it's very likely that Bono and Edge's teenage daughters come here. Wouldn't you if it were your Dad? They might even be one of us and we don't even know it. If some of you don't care what they think of you, think about what they think of this board as a whole, all the rest of us, and the admin. It reflects on all of us.

About the subforums, I think PLEBAns is really needed or else we'd have a dozen threads here going 'I'm sooo tired make me study!' or 'OMG my English teacher is such a dweeb' and stuff like that pushing everything else off the page so that some girls who only drop by every couple of days never get to see some of the threads. That also leads to double and triple posting of the same pic, story, etc. In the 'old days' maybe PLEBAns wouldn't have been needed, but it is now because it's so busy. It's good to have a place for all the non-U2 stuff where girls can laugh or cry with their friends. It's nice that it's even allowed here, some mailing lists I've been on refuse to post your message if it's off-topic. There is a place for all that, and everything in its place.

The only 'porn' pics that are prohibited are bare assed ones and 'elevated' ones. There are still plenty of sexy ones, like Falling Star's thrusting Bono!
