my pug just went to the vet for annual vaccinations. he weighed 22.8 two years ago and now is 29.

:reject:

i tried to tell the vet it was water weight, but he didn't buy it.

so now he's on a diet and he's all pitiful. he looks in his food bowl at the paltry little amount, then looks at me, then back at his bowl. :(

Poor thing. :( Kelly did that several years back, when we had to reduce her food intake cause she went on phenobaritol, and it makes them less active, and more prone to weight gain.

Pugs are little eating machines. They just can't get enough food. Pugsley & Zoey (especially Zoey) have been on diets too.

Pugsley's schtick is to run to the sliding doors, bark, then run to the kitchen table. He figures that a good watchdog should be rewarded with treats. He also likes to jump onto kitchen chairs and sit at the table, because he sees us people getting food and figures it will work that way for him.

Missing Link is one of the few pugs I've seen that is as handsome as Pugsley, IMHO!!!

Well they did about a month ago and he had to go in again today as the first was unsuccessful. I don't know the cause but i know if it don't get fixed there's a high chance he could go blind. Well he had a bad time of it and they couldn't bring him out of the anestetic...

:hug::hug::hug:

i will keep everything crossed that the op turns out a success

hope hes feeling better now after the probs with the anesthetic

everyone is having shitty days, including me. I just found out that my dad has to have surgery on Tuesday, and then another one in a few months. :sigh:

(this coming from the person who was super pissed off at him the other night and never wanted to talk to him again  )

Wild, is he ok now?

VP - I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating trip to the dr for your sis, it's so hard to be trying to take care of a health problem and be told they don't know what it is.

Back...I was just talking to my sister, she saw the rheumatologist for the first time today.

No news, except that he doesn't think is FMS, and that he thinks it is RA-related, but something is underlying it because hers is so severe. More tests, then back to see him in a month. :|

hope they figure out what it is soon

link stands in the kitchen when i'm cooking, and does not move a muscle. he just fixes his gaze on my feet and waits for something to fall! :cute:

my phone will not stop ringing! arggh! brb again.

Sami - It's not unnatural or unusual to get upset with someone you love, but it's things like this which remind us of what is really important in the first place, and thats that we do love them. Is it something major?

I hope he gets down to the right weight soon though.

He'll probably get used to the amount of food he's getting and he'll have to live with it.

Its just being cruel to be kind

Welcome Back VP!

sorry to hear that sami

is it a major op?

I hope all will go well with your dad, Sami.

We all have our moments with the people we love, but that doesn't mean we don't love them. And memories of those disagreements fade fast when something like impending surgery happens. It's all part of being human.

you guys are right

it's nothing life threatening, but kind of major. he was in a car accident like 2 years ago and he had all kinds of neck and shoulder problems from it...he had surgery right after the accident and it's been ok for a while and then it started hurting him again so he went back to the doctor and I forget exactly but his disks in his neck are pressing against his spinal cord, and if they don't do something about it he can become paralized (I can't figure out how to spell the damn word! ) So they are doing a smaller surgery on Tuesday (not that small though, they still have to put him to sleep) and then if that works he has to have a big one in a few months. If it doesn't work, they don't know what they are going to do. And to top it all off, his side of the family has bad thyroid problems (my aunt just had hers taken out- big scar across her throat :yikes: ) and he is having the same thing. Now the doctors are saying he might have to have that removed- and that is a major major surgery. Great day today!

I hope everyone in all of your families gets better too :hug:s

Also, it was my grandads funeral today and I just felt so bad for my dad 'cos now it's too late for them to sort things out

And it's too late for me to see my grandad :(

FMS and RA--Fybromyalgia syndrome? no, probably not....I'm guessing...what do they mean?

I hope she gets a diagnosis...it's so frustrating to be sick without a diagnosis, since it's impossible to treat anything...

That does sound rewarding

I wanted to be in the paediatrics field, 'cos i thought that would be rewarding...i just wanna help people any way i can.

Two things happened to me to prevent that prevented me from taking that career path...

1, I found out I had to do a course in a mortuary and disect bodies :yikes:

2, I flunked Science

my mom has the fybromyalgia syndrome. VP, if that's what it ends up being- there is no actual diagnosis for it..they have to test for everything else and once they rule everything else out that's how they know what it is. My mom has medicine now and she is only in pain every once in a while. I hope you find out what it is  It sucks waiting

Yes, fybromyalgia - he claims that she can't have that because she doesn't have enough "sore spots"..i think you're supposed to have over 11, but since early summer, she's been on a drug that's used to treat it, so it's possible that the soreness in some of the areas have subsided. She said she counted along with an online chart when she first got it, and there were over 20.

For now, her family doctor has been treating it as if it's RA, but I guess the specialist wants to eliminate other things, as well.

He told her today that a blood test and pain that's as off the charts as hers usually has an underlying cause, and the examples he gave a Lyme disease, or liver conditions (hepetitis).

She was disappointed that he didn't make adjustments to her meds, because what she's on really isn't working that well, and I think she's really tired of having constant pain.

fibromyalgia is tough to diagnose and treat. lots of anthropologists have done research on it because it's a very stigmatizing and ill-formed syndrome. no one knows squat about it. I'm so sorry to hear everyone is having a crap day (or many of us)

group pleba hug
