We got more snow here in Indiana today. I must confess, though: I'd rather look at white snow on the ground than brown dead grass--it's SO depressing.
i get that.
I've had enough- so to me no snow means Spring is finally on it's way .

All flowers are in bloom here too, three weeks earlier than usual. :D love it!!
that was like 2 years back in our area When had my ankle accident and missed alot of my favorite Springtime park strolls. Did it last year and oh I a soooo ready for this year parks & gardens greening up! :hyper:

YAY! My Hard Rock U2 shirt came today! (Ordered it Mon night)

It's that 'signature' one they did last spring for Amnesty International.

Would've bought one rather than order online but we never made it to the Hard Rock Cafe on Sunday when we were in Cleveland for a spontaneous trip to the Rock Hall.

It also included staying at the Renaissance Hotel and Mr CK and I taking turns going through Terminal Tower to visit that new Horseshoe Casino.... :shifty: Shame we didnt win anything lol.

OH. Btw -- they allow cameras now!:drool: Just no flash or video.

I should upload the U2 pics I took. Maybe a thread here in the PLEBAns forum? That way they can be seen without digging through our PGP chatter? :hmm:
 yay sounds like you all had a great time!

Definately post them in PLEBA

JJ

very cool Weather Maps & Graphs

Here's one
Graphs for a Year of SUNRISE/SUNSET/DAY/NIGHT/DUSK/DAWN and..... (areas for 'the midnight sun' times) for you
I set it at your location but-
everyone can find their location as well.

I've done various comparisons on diferent places in such a big & varied country as the USA. really cool!

Kokkola, Finland - Sunrise, sunset, dawn and dusk times for the whole year - Gaisma

:shifty::shifty:

Nah, that'd be Google Earth! :D

I was curious espcially after some time ago you mentioned you were seeing both Northern Lights and do experience (very close to) the midnight sun effect.

Those things have fascinated me since I was a kid reading about in in either a Scinece or Nature book series my parents got for me

Ellen should just host them every year.
This.

Anybody out there with an enthusiasm for cyberpunk? I'm writing a paper and finding it kind of a pain.

Also, just came across this in one of my own old posts. How fun is this?

U2 vertigo UNplugged - YouTube
:reject: what's cyberpunk?

They should make a movie about Leonardo DiCaprio's life and give an Oscar to the actors that plays him.

that has to happen

Cyberpunk is a genre of science fiction that originated in the 1980s and focuses on the intersection of human intelligence with computer technologies and intelligence in the near future-- sort of a seamy underbelly of a massive city in the sky kind of aesthetic. Think The Matrix and Johnny Mnemonic.

I did like the book, Dazz, just feeling a bit maxed out lately.

Eh, I'm over the infighting over there. It'll happen when it happens. And the same people screaming now will be the first ones in line to kiss Bono's arse.

And after reading the Billboard article a couple times, I see nothing but anonymous "sources". When the band's says something, I'll worry.

In the meantime, I'm gonna go listen to Invisible. Again. :sexywink:

I'd love to! If U2 survive another album and tour, I may come over after I finish my study. I'll have far more money to spend when I get a decent job anyway, and California is definitely on the top of my list of US places to see, with Boston a close second. :D

Well I just read that we all have another extra year to save money. Thanks to U2
So the chance of going abroad is bigger now. I think that counts for us both :hifive:

I'm with you on having to see some JT , visiting Death Valley and going San Diego, NY and Boston too.

Is NY overrated or not? I'm still in doubt about it.

are ya´ll spying on me ? :lol::lol:

Yeah extra year to save up plus having the benefit of hopefully being DONE with uni in summer 2015. That would be epic. Summer party!

I'm not too impressed with NYC, my sister and mother have gone there and while they enjoyed themselves, they did say it was very 'American'. Everything supersized, the appartments had no kitchen except a microwave, you couldn't even prepare a freakin' sandwich, bloody insane. :crack:

My Facebook imploded. Between U2 delaying till 2015. Word got out that Sherlock might not be back until 2016. It's dark days, my friends.

Apartments as in 'hotel'? Or as in actual living space? :hmm:

Because I've stayed in many a hotel that has had a microwave. But never once stayed in any sort of place that's had any type of "kitchen" unless renting a condo or an "extended stay" suite. (All US, of course. Never been outside the US except for one wee trip to Canada when I was 12 for a school thing.)

:hmm:

If you are coming all the way to California, you cannot afford to miss Yosemite. In just one afternoon driving through the park you can see some of the most beautiful scenery! We took a few hours out of our way on the way home from the Oakland show in 2013. It's so worth it!

I know this photo is like a million years old cuz my kids were still so little! But seriously Yosemite is so pretty!

Only a few hours away from San Diego and even closer to Death Valley, etc...

I think if you are talking about temporary accomadations (right?) we call that hotels/motels here, and apartments are permanent living places (homes). :hmm: Never heard of an apartment without a kitchen! ;)

But if you want a hotel/motel room with a kitchen you need to specifically reserve with a kitchen. Most hotels have rooms with kitchens but you need to be sure to reserve one, otherwise the basic rooms don't have them, probably because lots of people don't need them if they are traveling and just staying a night or two.

Yeah most basic rooms have a coffeepot and that's it. Microwaves sometimes but usually those are limited and you have to reserve it in advance.

I've never had any trouble getting rooms with kitchens, but then I haven't traveled much on the east side of the country, so maybe things are different. Mostly when I travel though, I want to eat out at local places . Who wants to cook when you're on vacation!

Uh here in Europe you have either hotels where everything is taken care of, or appartments where you just rent a small 1 bedroom, living room, bathroom kitchen appartment which is much cheaper than a hotel but you have to provide your own food. I usually go with those on my holidays or tours since I don't mind cooking my own food to save expenses.
I have no idea why you'd need a microwave in a hotel room though.

Cooking is easy and awesome, why would you NOT want to do that on vacation in a strange country with all new ingredients?
