I honestly don't think U2.com would move that fast as some sort of sinister cover-up. "Oh hey, better not let people know the truth!", but yes, I do think they would move fast(ish) to reassure fans.

I believe them and think it was the press making things up. A heart issue isn't like rehab or something where maybe you don't want to be public about it. I know Bono smokes and drinks a little but he's hardly somebody you look at and think "oh yeah, cardiac time bomb," so I doubt he's got anything going on. I don't know much about the arrhythmia thing but I don't think it increases risk of a cardiac event. Bono's got a big heart, but it's probably not enlarged.

It depends on what type you have. The more common ones are fairly innocuous and treatable. My mom has a kind, and untreated, it puts you at risk of stroke. To treat it, they put people on blood thinners to decrease the likelihood. Other than that, she doesn't have to do anything special for it. Other kinds are more dangerous, though.
