:(

I still hope that one of the family illnesses are not the children and are not serious. (Crossing fingers and hoping for the best.)

I've only just got back to reading PLEBA and my heart sank when i read all this stuff about it possibly being one of Edge's children
  It's sad to think it would be ANY family member but especially so if it's a child. I hope&pray everyone is fine in the end and that we hear some good news soon.

This was on wire this morning.

Cancer Heartbreak for U2’s Edge

Heartbreaking news from the U2 camp last week. The band’s world tour, which was set to start in Florida on March 1, will be delayed because lead guitarist The Edge’s young daughter has been diagnosed with leukemia. The band was due to unveil details and on-sale dates for the tour early this month, but
manager Paul McGuinness posted a message on the U2 website last week saying the plans had temporarily changed. “We’ve postponed the announcement of the tour because the routing is still being worked on. As soon as we get everything
confirmed over the coming weeks, we’ll let you know,” McGuinness said. But news soon emerged that little Sian Evans, only seven years old, was recently diagnosed with cancer, and that her dad, whose given name is Dave Evans, has
been by her side ever since. Sian has been receiving her treatment at a Dublin hospital.

My prayers to the Evans family.

I was also hoping that this was untrue and that the cancellation was just routing problems.
I have a 7 year old daughter I just cant imagine what they are going through.

Are we sure this one is official? This same report was posted on the HTDAAB message board last week and it was doubted. Even though I know Scarlet knows her news and I'm sure she checked it out it does seem like the same story from before unless I'm missing something. Have any other news agencies picked it up? Of course, I am still holding out hope it's not true because it's so sad. If it is true, I don't' even feel right playing around talking about the band here. This is a terrible thing

I mentioned this in another thread, so at the risk of being repetitive, here goes.
I think if this story as it was originally reported in the Sunday World last weekend is false, then you will see a retraction/correction in tomorrow's paper. They will have been forced to retract, if there was no truth to the story. If there is no retraction, or if they indeed provide further details, then I guess, tragically, it is true. We need to ask any Irish Interferencers to keep their eyes open for this paper.

I would think that because the rumors are so strong, if they were false the band's management, spokesperson, lawyer, etc. would have come out and denied them. It's been all over the Irish papers and television. I don't expect anyone to confirm that this is true, but I would expect them to come out and say if it wasn't. If that makes sense.

There was a story in something called the Irish Voice. I'm not sure if that's a tabloid or not?? Anyway, someone else posted the entire article on several yahoo groups.

I will copy and paste it exactly how it was posted at the group.

I'm sure that all these papers would have had to retract the articles and make a full and unreserved apology to Edge and the family if there was no truth there.
The U2 lawyers would have been in there like a shot (and rightly so).
Extremly sad news.

My Hope and love goes out to Edge, his family and friends..
I've many encounters with cancer - it's a scary thing..but on the upside, one of the young girls on my street had leukemia, however, she was treated and all that and now, only a few years later, she's alive and healthy and back to doing all things little girls do! :)

Yes that is true if it were not true they'd surely have been sued or asked to retract. Still, as others mentioned before, an official statement would have cleared things up and stopped all this. But nothing really matters but the health of this child. I feel so bad for them all and can only hope and pray and wish them the best. May she be better very soon. I know a young girl who had this and was cured after only 6 weeks of treatment and 2 years later there are still no signs of illness so I hope she will do as well. This is an unspeakable sadness for some wonderful people.

yes, stars, the news (if true) is heartbreaking.

But Edge's faith in God is strong and will see him and his family through ANY difficulty.

It is not something that I will ever feel appropriate to bring up in our discussions again, but before my daughter was born in 1981, I lost TWO children ( a daughter and a son) shortly after their birth.

I cannot sufficiently describe the depth of pain and loss I went through, but that experience now has made me a more compassionate and loving person.

Although I pray for a better outcome for Edge and his family, whatever happens will ultimately be for the Good.

I firmly believe that after my own experiences.

TAKE THIS HEART....

Bigs hugs and many Blessings for all the good-hearted folks of PLEBA

and, of course, the reason we're all here - U2 (and their families)

Jam, good grief, that must have been painful. I'm glad you were able to come out of all that trauma stronger, what a gut-wrencher.

I guess I’ve been so silent about this because I was expecting this to be not true. So, I’m still in shock as I just found this

I pray for the mercy of God on this family.

I was really hoping none of the papers would have shown any pictures of her. It's not like I haven't seen them before, or recently in fact, but the pictures combined with the headline seemed to make it real and I just started crying. :sigh:

so its really true:sad: I just read somewhere that it wasn't and I was hopefully that this awful thing about cancer was just a rumor

Having lost my oldest son's twin when he was three months old I know that this sort of thing brings back painful memories to those of us who have lost a child. I hope all goes well for them.
