It's Official! U2 members to be in new "Live Aid" benefit concert! !

U2's Bono And Edge, DC, Elton, Bowie Join NY Benefit
October 15, 2001

U2's Bono and the Edge and Destiny's Child are among the latest artists to
sign on for the Concert for New York, which will be held Saturday at Madison
Square Garden to raise money for victims and families affected by the
September 11 terrorist attacks.

David Bowie and Elton John were also added to the lineup Monday (October
15), and Janet Jackson will appear live via satellite.

A publicist for the event said it's unclear at this time whether the artists
will be performing or speaking at the show, which will air live on VH1.
Previously scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET and last four hours, the show
will begin at 7 p.m. and run an hour longer.

Details are still being worked out for the concert, which also will feature
Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, the Who, Backstreet Boys, Macy Gray and a slew
of other performers (see "Jagger, Clapton, More Added To Concert For New
York Lineup"). A panel of actors and comedians, including John Cusack,
Gwyneth Paltrow and Jerry Seinfeld, will appear at the fundraiser as well.

The event will raise money for the the Robin Hood Foundation, which will
administer money to the Twin Towers Fund and to lower-income New Yorkers
affected by the tragedy. The broadcast will display a phone number and Web
address where viewers can make donations. Five thousand members of New
York's fire department, police department and rescue crews are being invited
to attend the show along with their families.

It's this Saturday! I guess they left that date open and that's why no second Baltimore show. It's supposed to be on at 7 PM EST. I don't know which channel but I'll find out.

Thanks! Is it just VH-1? Wow, hope my cable holds out! Is there any way the public can see this show live? After the Baltimore show I might try to go, but I bet it would be hopeless, so I might as well go home and get the VCR ready.

I am SO lame! All that info was there, I was just so excited to find the story confirming their participation I didn't read it all!

Question: Why not Larry and Adam?

I know England is 5 hours earlier than the east coast of the US which would make it midnight there so take it from how far you are off from England's time.

Well, if your rolling in money you might be able to go. Additional tickets were released this morning according to Billboard:

"While all but the priciest tickets to the event had reportedly sold out shortly after going on sale last week, additional tickets have become available and will go on sale at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Oct. 16) through Ticketmaster outlets. As with all of the tickets for the event, proceeds from the newly offered $5,000, $2,000, $500, and $250 tickets will be collected by
the Robin Hood Foundation's Relief Fund and will be distributed to various funds directly benefiting those affected
by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York. "

And we thought Elevation tix were expensive
