Independance day

So I was thinking about what I am going to do one the fourth and thought that I would probably end up being dragged to another casino to watch their display. So I though to myself. Elinor, why not bring your portable Cd player and listen to U2 all night. Then I knew it would not be so bad. I can listen to U2 instead of the cracks and booms of fire works. Life is complete.

So what is everyone doin for the fourth of July?

Working...while all of my Ryan Adams friends are in NYC for the free Jesse Malin/Ryan Adams concert...

Ditto with the working. 12-8. :| WHO IS GONNA RENT A MOVIE ON 4TH OF JULY?!?!?! I just may yell at the people who come in and tell them they should be eating hamburgers and hot dogs and watching fireworks instead of sitting inside watching the crappy movies they are prolly gonna rent.

 No I would never do that...and risk losing the job I love so much?

Luckily, I get Friday off b/c the campus is closed, but I think I'm just gonna sleep in and hang out with Phil. We were going to the beach, but the weather looks questionable so we'll do that Saturday or Sunday instead. I'm not sure about fireworks, I don't know my way around downtown much, especially with thousands of people, and I'm not sure what bridge we're supposed to sit on.

I've got family coming over during the afternoon, and at night I'll be going to see Elevation USA. (With Laura). I'm excited for all that, but I'm more excited for Sunday. We'll be going to see Elvis Costello for free at the Taste of Chicago. :hyper:

A really rich guy who lives on this island pays for a fireworks show in our harbor that rivals the big city's, so I'll be on the beach Friday night taking in the sight... the big finale is supposed to have "over 500 items making for a spectacular show".

yeah!

you lucky, LUCKY person*slight envy and jealousy*

I myself am going to watch fireworks on the Promenade in Portland. I'll also be taking up SpaceGirl's idea and I'll bring my CD player with me. That's about it. No traditional American July 4th food (no hotdogs/hamburgers for the vegan, not like I'd want them...icky things, hotdogs), just me, U2, several hundreds of people and fireworks.:|

My plans for July 4th

1) Sleep in with Scotty.
2) Eat something dumb like a handful of almonds for breakfast.
3) Back to bed.
4) Wish death and destruction upon stupid kids who light fireworks in the PARKING LOT. Can anyone say "gas tank leak?"
5) Go to Scott's family's place down south for a "get together". They spent $150.00 on fireworks, so I should see some good fireworks and perhaps an emergency room or two.

In Canada, we don't really do the fireworks thing AS MUCH as you do it down here. It's a little weird for me to see people just shooting them off wherever they want to.

Although, I am completely PRO pyrotechnics.
