Awww...that was October 31st, Larry's birthday. When Larry got up to speak, Bono snuck behind him and sat at the drums. Larry made some comment like, "Don't worry, he's not that good of a drum player." I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was funny.

Sort of.

Now I am remembering a part in the Flanagan book -- he says that Eno pushed them to try different instruments, so Edge took the bass, Adam played guitar, Bono played drums -- can't remember what Larry did..

"Don't call me Shirley." - Larry

"I was drunk, high on him, a shrinking, shadowboxing dwarf following in his foosteps...badly...STARSTRUCK.." - Bono, on meeting Frank Sinatra for the first time

LOL yeah on the next album Larry is going to sing all the songs and Bono will play drums

Meeting Larry:
*MG shows Larry poster*
*Larry reads poster*
*Larry smiles and says "Thank you that's very nice of you"*
*Larry signs paper, shakes MG's hand*
*MG almost dies then sees tearaway pants and gets bad ideas*

lol -- it would certainly be entertaining if he sang!

I have never heard Larry sing before -- and he doesn't seem very shy about it.. I want to hear him sing!

There are clips of him singing on mp3s out there somewhere. I remember having a few. Irish drinking songs mainly. lol. He does a pretty decent job, but he's no crooner.

I don't think that will happen. After all Bono once said that Larry was a man so good looking that they would never let him sing in the band

He is credited as doing vocals on "Numb". Anyone know what this is about??

nope. Larry does help with the background vocals for Numb. It's in the U2 Bible and you can see him doin' it in the music vid too.

I think although Bono's voice is the one that carries louder on the "I feel numb" part, Larry is actually singing the same part an octave lower.

Ah -- thanks for clearing that up, sula

"Bono? Bono is going to tie ropes around my neck? Wait a minute.." -- Edge, when shooting the 'Numb' video

Bono, like, Lawrence, appears to be quite skilled at banging with a wood stick.

*looks around*

WHAT? What are you laughing at?

It also says in the Flanagan Bible in the Passengers sessions part that Larry played a great surf guitar riff inspired by Pulp Fiction that took everyone by surprise. Plus there's that great pic of him w/ a guitar in the POP CD booklet
*dreams of rock star larry with the guitar and mic*

------------------
I had the loudest mouth. When we formed the group, I was the lead guitar player, singer and songwriter. Nobody talked back at first. But then they talked me out of being lead guitar player and into being the rythm guitar player and into just being the singer. And then they tried to talk me out of being the singer and into being the manager. But I held on to that. Arrogance may have been the reason. - Bono

As a vehicle it has its limitations: it probably wouldn't get you to work and back. But it could make someone a fantastic cocktail bar. - Edge on the lemon

No no -- I think Bono just sings "I feel numb". I think you guys are thinking of Lemon -- he is credited for singing backup for that, isn't he?

Anyone who wants to hear Larry sing - download 'Whiskey In The Jar' sung live in the US (not the Dublin one as he is drowned out by the crowd) He does lead for the entire song.

Bono looks soooo cute behind those drums!
