It's actually not that unusual for men in non-Anglo Saxon cultures to have close relationships that some might view as gay but are not. The men in Russian families have always kissed, for example (my grandfather, uncles, other male relatives.)

I really appreciate that Bono and Edge have a) cultivated such a warm relationship and b) don't hesitate to show it. I don't find it hot so much as sentimental.

In some culture, it's even went one step further, once upon the time, having a male sex-partner was a kind of high class fashion...

I think Bono and Edge they really love each other, and I think it's Bono who really fond of physical contact. It could be tough in a top of the music industry for nearly 30 years. The support and love between the four guys are incrediblly touching.
