it's open mic night at PLEBA! okay, here's the story (morning glory.) we are reading the canterbury tales in english class. for extra credit my teacher gave us the option of writing a fictional character description, like the one's of the pilgrim found in the prologue of the book. it had to be 22 lines, with rhyming couplets, and the description had to lead the reader to understand the personality of the character. mine is "loosely" based on a certain leather clad rocker. enjoy...

"There was a friendly Musician who then joined the party,
With black hair and blue eyes, he was lively and hearty.
His name was Hewson, as he kindly told
when he introduced himself, for he was quite bold.
From Dublin he came on 'a mission from Christ.'
True, he was ambitious but also quite nice.
He strummed his guitar and sang lyrical words.
His vox was as bono as a little bird?s.
He was mischievous, zealous, and always jumping around.
He would dance and sing and role on the ground.
He was so full of joy, he actions seemed wild,
but be not confused, he was a man not a child.
He was chaotic and forgetful, but do not place blame.
It is said he grew up on a street with no name.
He wore leather and suede and fatigues, but no metal.
Hewson was most clearly a political rebel.
Glasses covered his eyes as shade from the sun.
He spoke of peace on earth and being as one.
He was kind to the children and gave to the poor.
It was no wonder this man was so strongly adored.
To love one another was the best advice he knew,
and he wished love and hope for me and you, too."

i know it's cheesy. originally, it had a lot more inside jokes, but i don't think my teacher is a U2 fan so i did a major edit. i want her to get the character even if she doesn't make the connection. what ya think?

?Hard as it is to keep it together, it is still possible to have those moments when it?s just the four of you being able to keep the rest of the world out... and that?s what it?s all about.?

That's pretty funny! I love Canterbury Tales parodies. The originals are pretty good too, especially if you do them in the original Middle English

The city walls are all pulled down
The dust a smokescreen all around
See faces ploughed like fields that once gave no resistance

we read that Freshman year! I think I would have liked your modified version better........
