I just received this weekend DVD's of both the 4/14/05 and 4/15/05 Glendale, AZ shows. Both DVD's are excellent quality. I would rate the 4/14 show a 10 for video quality and 10 for audio. The 4/15 a 9 for video and 10 for audio. Both concerts require 3 DVD's. Why 3 DVD's? The taper filmed both shows in XP mode, the highest quality setting on his camcorder and were transferred to DVD-R using a standalone dvd recorder. The first two discs of each show contain a little under an hour of footage with the last 15-20 minutes on the 3rd disc. Yes, it's a pain to get up and switch discs twice while watching the concerts, but believe me it's well worth it for the crystal-clear video quality. The average bitrate for the video is over 9.5 Mbps, double what you'd normally get with single DVD recordings. You'll really appreciate the extra bitrate if you have a big-screen tv.
The taper did have to switch tapes both shows, so there are fade-outs in a couple spots and a few seconds missing before Bullet the Blue Sky. The 4/15 dvd is also missing the end of Yahweh. Both shows were filmed from about the same location, first couple rows of the upper level around mid-stage. Because the taper wasn't close enough to the stage, he shot both shows at wider-angle and didn't zoom in too close in order to avoid digital distortion.
There is no indexing with these dvd's, so you'll have to fast-forward/rewind if you want to get to a particular track.
I'm currently only accepting trades for the Glendale DVD's.
I'm looking for other U2 DVD's that I currently don't have . In particular, other DVD's from the Vertigo tour that haven't been made available through torrents. I trade 1:1 for DVD's, so I'll need 3 DVD's in return for each Glendale show. I'll also trade for U2 audio at a 2:1 ratio, 2 cd-r's for each DVD disc. I'm pasting below my current & incoming DVD list so you can see what I already have and will soon have.
