Er, I don't think U2RMW videos fell out a tree! Unless you can show me a pics of squirrels planting a seed, watching the tree grow, then collecting the fallen nuts they stash, don't even use such a flimsy comparison...

spent a lot of time refuting that one. :|

I have an idea: let's all not care what u2rmw has. Let him keep his shows to himself. Let him be a jerk and point out peoples post counts. He's petty and he's continued to show that.

I'm glad to see Vegas poked ahead of Boston 12/4

AS to my videos and who has and doesnt have them, those who I feel are deserving of getting them, have them

if you dont have them too bad

I am not a sensative or politically correct person and i dont give a shit what you think, I will do what i want with my videos, as soon as you start filming shows you can do the same

until then you have no right to criticize the way i handle mine IMO

if you didnt give a shit what we all thought then you wouldnt be looking for us all to kiss your ass and try to get your (shitty) videos from you that you advertise in your signature. otherwise if you didnt want to have your little ego stroked then you wouldn't be posting that in your sig, so obviously you want recognition for work a chimpanzee could do.

I gotta say...

U2RMW online is a bit of an ass (bordering on total ass), but U2RMW in person is quite the nice, funny and generous dude... :)

Again, it goes both ways... if there wasn't so much of a sense of entitlement about boots, videos, etc. mayhaps things would be a bit different...

U2rmw,

glad to see you're in the giving spirit of the holidays.

btw, next time you film, try to hold the camera still.

thanks

Sorry to go against the tide here, but I am very grateful to u2rulesmyworld for torrenting ANY of his boots.

The fact that he generously put up his film of the best show of the year, Vegas II, within hours of the show ending engendered a bounty of gratitude from those who were at that legendary concert (check out the comments at U2torrents.com).

His Vegas II double-disc DVD boot has been downloaded 1,100 times so far.

Sure, I'd love to have a copy of his Vegas 1 show, too, but I also understand how the trading community works... in order to get rare boots, you must be able to provide rare boots in return.

No doubt, Mike has a number of old U2 shows on his want-list that he doesn't have yet, so he hopes to trade for them by sending out his non-torrented films that he made on the Vertigo Tour.

From what I gather, there are still a large number of U2 bootleg films from the 80's and 90's that were never torrented. The only way to get these films is to provide something as rare and valuable in return (ie. non-torrented boots).

Including his list of filmed shows in his signature is simply a practical way of advertising to other traders what he has... smart marketing, in my opinion.

Filming concerts is a royal pain, I've tried it a couple of times and didn't get very far. The cracks about "keeping the camera still" are a bit tough. Try sitting/standing still for two hours while filming moving targets 100 yards away, it's not easy.

The fact that U2rulesmyworld and the other filmers and tapers voluntarily sit in the worst seats in the house, worry about getting caught by securtity and having their gear confiscated, then take the time to edit and torrent ANY of their films demonstrates a giving U2 spirit, not a 'hoarder's mentality'.

If I really want to see that Vegas 1 video, I will either have to hope that U2rulesmyworld torrents it in a few years after he gets some good trades out of it, or I will have to film other U2 shows myself and trade with him directly. I have no problem with that.

Wowzers Penny!

There's not much room in this thread with all the giant heads. :uhoh:
Hooray for Vegas almost winning. It's tied now, and that makes me a sad panda, because it deserves to win.

-haX so he can multivote- :hyper:

And sorry neutral, I should have said something along the lines of what you said. :reject:

You remembered something I posted 2 months ago?

Hmmm....:eyebrow:

yes, i did.

actually, i only remembered vaguely what you had said. i remembered that you had said some really crappy things about the city of las vegas, casinos, the people who live in this area, and the people who go to shows here. a click of the search button below your post, and twenty, maybe thirty seconds of scrolling was all it took to refresh my memory.

is your reply meant to make me feel bad? i tried to make it light, teasing even, but maybe you didn't like being reminded.

sorry.

If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely get back to Montreal or somewhere in Canada again.

Daveydave, I agree with you on your show analysis, since I was at all of those too.

But really, we have to get you to Dublin before you head north again!

I think I wrote my original post from 2 months ago in a tongue-in-cheek vein regarding my concern that the Vegas GA crowd would be filled with poseurs who paid $900 for their tickets. In no way was it a criticism of the fine, classy residents of your beloved town.

Sorry you took it the wrong way. I don't post things here to make anyone "feel bad", please. I'll leave that to others.

My point about casino concert crowds remains valid. Because of the high number of comp tickets, casino crowds tend to be more passive than crowds elsewhere. Is this still debated?

I lived in Las Vegas for awhile and attended many different shows there at nearly all the different casinos (I did manage to somehow miss the Celine Dion extravaganza at Caesar's, however, pity that).

Vegas II was great despite the audience. Great setlist, great guests, tiny venue, good sound, band in a great mood. The audience around us were pathetic, however. At least 30 people in our section alone left after 4-5 songs. The rest of them sat most of the time, only getting up during SBS and Streets.

If this show occurred in Montreal or Atlanta or Boston, with their passionate crowds, this competion for 'Best Show' would be over by now.

Why was the crowd around us so passive? Turns out most of the people sitting in our section closest to Adam (ie. great seats) were employees of some bank that does business with the MGM. The ones I spoke with were all comps - nice people, but none of them had much of a clue about U2.

None of them were from Las Vegas, either, so please don't misinterpret this again as an insult to your fellow cohabitants. Local Las Vegans are great partiers, maybe the most fun in the world, and they make great concert goers, as evinced by the excellent crowds one finds at smaller venues like The Joint.

However, due to the nature of the casino business (I used to work in the finance dept of the MGM), rock concerts are not events in and of themselves, but rather they are looked at as means to other ends. Handing out free tickets to favored clients who may or may not be very interested in the show is a common practice which everyone in Vegas knows about.

In addition, big shows in Vegas tend to be filled with out-of-towners looking to spend a night away from the tables, not with fans of the particular acts themselves. I remember the look on Bono's face when he peered out into the quiet, unresponsive crowd during the first PopMart show in '97 at Sam Boyd Stadium... he looked like he was going to cry.

So, please, bonosgirl84, I respect your vigorous defense of your city against perceived slights, but understand that in no way was I criticizing the people of Las Vegas, but rather the system by which casinos hoard many of their best tickets for favored clients.

We had a great time in your town during those three memorable days, and I feel very fortunate to have attended the best US U2 show of the year.

By the way, Vegas 1 was a good show, too.

Well call me biased....But i would have to vote for a city that didn't make your list...Montreal Nov 26th awesome loud...Kicked butt show!!...Montreal crowds know how to have fun...i love the cheering...the singing...gives me goosebumps....
And Bono was in awe throughout the show...kept saying "wow"...and Merci ....especially after Streets...he took his earpiece out just so he could hear the crowd...was truley and emotional...and fun show.
The best in my humble ...possibly biased opinion

as soon as W invades Canada and annexes Montreal to the USA then you will be able to vote for Nov 26th as the best US show of the tour

Well if we're ranking, here's how I'd go...

1. New York 11/21
2. Boston 12/5
3. Boston 12/4
4. New York 10/8
5. New York 10/11
6. New York 10/7
7. San Jose 4/10
8. New York 10/10
9. New York 5/21
10. New York 11/22
11. New Jersey 5/18
12. New York 10/14
13. San Jose 4/9
14. New Jersey 5/17

However, this is deceiving as the first 12 shows were truly fabulous and all of those 12 can go up against the best of Elevation and Popmart. San Jose 4/9 was good, but marred by bad sound. Only NJ 5/17 would be what I would call a lackluster and phoned-in show, just wasn't feeling it from them at that one.

How could u put msg 10/11 infron of 10/14?!! where we watching the same shows?

U2 List!

Anybody who leaves Boston off the list has NO clue! I saw at least one of each of the stops and they were all great. If you haven't seen U2 in Boston, you're missing something special. There is an energy, a karma, that you feel. I've seen them here every tour since the early 80's, and it gets better every time!! Now, WHO is hoarding the Boston shows?????? lol

My wife and I attended Bos May 24 and Bos Dec 4 last year. There was so much energy at the Dec 4 show. I enjoyed all the tunes and the encores were great. The Dec 4 show is the best U2 concert I've seen.
