Point Depot '89 - if you mean 12/31 - strikes me as more theatrical than this one, but not necessarily better. That show had tremedous energy, but it was far from their most emotional. If you mean the previous show, I'll defer to your judgment.

I don't see anything wrong with (controlled) screaming btw - all of the great tenors do it.

He uses this mic preamp, or something similar. Basically it evens out the volume of the vocals - it acts like a limiter.
