U2 playing the Borgata in Spring??

Did anyone else hear on WMMR (93.3 Philly radio station) after the 10/16 show that U2 are rumored to play the Borgata in Atlantic City?? Pierre and Matt Chord (the DJs) were talking to someone from the Borgata and they asked him about the rumor and he wouldn't say yes or no at the time. It seems as if it is a real possibility as the Borgata has been getting a lot of big acts (Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, and others) and is becoming a hot spot for shows. Does anyone have any other info about this?

I heard this but I didn't believe it for a second. Of course the director of the Borgata wouldnt say no..Who wouldnt want U2 to play their venue. But no way would U2 play a 3000 seat casino. I just dont see it.

Springsteen played one night in Convention Hall in Atlantic City on his Rising tour, full band and all. No reason to think that U2 wouldn't do it.

Oh my God, it's not nice to tease people like this. I know there is a CHANCE, very very small chance they would play the Borgata, but I really doubt it.

But sweet Jeesbus, if they did I would probably explode.

I live 40 minutes from A.C. buy the way.

dont trust radio DJ sources

Uh oh, I agree with Chizip again. IF U2 did come back to N. America next year they would most likely take it to stadiums not even smaller venues than that first and third leg. I dont think they are coming back though.

There WAS a rumor about a Borgata date early this year as the tour announcement was getting near, but it never materialized on the tour skeds. As I highly doubt that they will do another pass next year it's probably DJs dredging up old rumors...

First, let me say that MMR & Pierre Robert KICK ASS!!! My dad used to put me to sleep to the sound of MMR when I was but a wee lad...

That said, I unfortunately really doubt it'll happen. There was a rumor here in DC for a few months that "a big band" was going to play the 9:30 Club (also a small venue) here in DC. Lo and behold, after months of rumors that the band was going to be U2, it turns out to be The Pixies!!!!!!

i bet my bank account U2 would never play there. why would they. makes no economic sense. the only reason bruce played there is his band has a historical connection with the jersey shore, which u2 does not.

dj's start these rumors all the time to get people to listen.

anyone remember "u2's playing fenway"? or the non-existant us stadium tour?

The chances are better than you might think. I can totally see the band playing some club dates in 2006 before starting a new leg if one is planned, there’s a little maudlin reminiscing about the old days at some of the shows but anything after the current leg concludes is purely speculation.

If they did it wouldn’t be for the money but do they still have the fire just to perform? Who knows? But I think it’s a good bet when the touring is done they’re going to take an extended break before heading back into the studio so it’s going to be awhile before we get any new material. Live DVD, Live CD, and Greatest Hits are surely on the horizon.

Oh I doubt it too, but never rule it out. The Rolling Stones played numerous clubs on their last tour as well, so you can't totally discount big bands playing smaller venues, even as a one off.

· Vertigo Tour 3rd leg: North America (50 shows)
· Vertigo Tour 2nd leg: Europe (33 shows)
· Vertigo Tour 1st leg: North America (29 shows)

· Elevation Tour 3rd leg: North America (30 shows)
· Elevation Tour 2nd leg: Europe (33 shows)
· Elevation Tour 1st leg: North America (50 shows)

doesn't really add anything to the ac story, but i just found it interesting how the two tours are almost identical in number of dates (the first leg vertigo date totals i assume would have been flipped with the 3rd leg totals if not for the family emergency)

through the tours since joshua tree there has been a similar patern, especially the na, eu, na model. sheenan is turning them into a finely tuned machine. seems to be a model they like and i bet the next tour sees something similar, if they can sell as many dates.

I doubt it would happen although that would be absolutely insane..The Borgata is amazing and it's a small place to play that would be

Borgata is getting the Stones next year. Thats all I know. U2 I doubt it. After seeing both Pearl Jam shows at Borgata, U2 would not play at Borgata. It would be a clusterf*$k if there was a GA show. Also security outside the venue are a bunch of Assholes. Yes I mean assholes outside the venue. Inside at the show, their all cool only if you are an ass to anyone there.
