Hahaha...extreme headline I know, but please take all of the following with a grain of salt.

I have met several times the father of the boy brought up on stage at both Denver shows (from the exact same spot on the outside rail) and we know many of the same people in the music industry as we both make our living that way. He told me that U2 is planning to film the Vancouver shows for possible DVD release. He has been asked if he would consider bringing his son to be planted again for the DVD filming. I am aware they film all their shows, but this is supposed to be a full production by Dreamchaser for U2 Limited.

This is completely unconfirmed, but first hand information. The father has many ties to the U2 organization, including counting several members of the technical staff as personal friends.

Any thoughts? I think it is relatively soon in the tour, but Boston was leg 1 (but later in the trek). Vancouver is a great choice I think though. Hope it happens.

oh wow, that would be GREAT!!! i really wish i was going to be at those shows... i do have a couple of concerns that it might be too early in the tour, though i listened to Phoenix 2 and the band sounded tight.

that's cute about the little boy being pulled up... however, i don't like the idea of "plants"! come on, U2, keep it spontaneous!

He is most definitely a plant. He was given tickets and escorted to the spot.

That being said, it was one of the most stirring theatrical moments of the show. Worth whatever spontaneous excitement is lost. What Bono said was great, scripted, but great. I have no problem with him thinking of a point he wants to make ahead of time and finding a moving, creative way to do it.

huh  i didn't know that U2 did plants... except for bellydancer melissa on the popmart tour, that is!

thanks for the info... please keep us posted if you hear more!

Well, it's not a plant like it's the same person every night and everything is scripted... I think that the first little girl he brought up was not a plant, and then maybe he thought he would do it again the next night and arranged with someone he knew had a kid. The Mysterious Ways girls certainly aren't plants...

It would be great it they filmed in Vancouver, since I'm going to both shows. But then again when they film a show they rarely give memorable performances because they are contrived and more nervous with the filming... I'd rather get real, spontaneous shows in a way.

Btw, apparently Bono is already in Vancouver (the band might stay here for the whole week and go to Seattle from Van). Hopefully I'll run into him in the next few days

U2 once again confirming that Vancouver just very well might be the greatest city on the North American continent. Next to Albuquerque.

I wasnt saying that everything is a plant, just these two instances with Nicholas. And I have no problem with it. Was using that information more as a reference for how the information aboot Vancouver, eh.

im surprised they would release a show on dvd from so early on the tour

youd think theyd wait until later on when the show is more polished...

Yeah, somehow I doubt that they would be filming so early too... The show is just getting settled now, that would be extremely surprising. Plus, I doubt that we wouldn't know about it at this point. Still, interesting info.

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt...
It may be part of an overall project as well...
Perhaps similar to what Pearl Jam did with the "Touring Band" video, but not as many different shows.

They did Boston towards the end of the 1st leg on Elevation and release it the last week of the tour later that year.

The DVD should be filmed in Chicago. 4 Shows, most of any city on the 1st leg.

yeah, i'd think chicago would be a better choice, at least in terms of having more nights (in case they need extra footage). however, i also understand that they wouldn't want to release another DVD from an American city, since on the last tour they did boston. they've done ireland, australia, mexico city, and the US... so it makes sense that they'd like to do canada! :)

Also, the crew spent a fair amount of time in GM Place prior to the tour. Maybe they were scouting at the same time. I doubt it though because wouldn't this have leaked out by now? Anyone remember how much notice for the Boston filming? That was 4 years ago but....?

Might be kind of nice if the next U2 concert release was of a European stadium show. As previous releases have included North / South America and Australia, it would be interesting to see the differences (if any).

Plus I just like to be on TV  "Hello Mum!"

Remember that in 2001, the late april shows were some of the best on that tour and an early highpoint. Some fans, that listen to every bootleg, thought Bono's voice does a slight peak around 1 month into a tour.

Vancouver is exactly 1 month into the new tour.

Also, maybe they are just keeping a proper video record of the show on archive - they have a week to see the results before Chicago and judge the show from an audiences perspective.

Yeah sure, but it was more or less the same setlist as the Elevation DVD in Boston. I bought and enjoyed them both of course, but I'd like to see the new tour DVD from somewhere different.

they should do the april 29th show on dvd seeing as how its the single greatest day in mankind.

but i highly doubt that they will release a dvd from this early in the tour as well.

How about Europe? Amsterdam has 3 shows...

South America??? If you´re thinking of Popmart Mexico, that is not correct. North America or Central America, but definitely not South America.

On the topic, as I´m heading to Toronto, I would love to see one of the two concerts I´m going to attend immortalised on DVD, but I guess Vancouver would be nice as well.

(sigh) I stand corrected.

Everybody wants it at or near their location I guess - I don;t really care now as long as it's a good concert.

Jeez!
