He is most definitely a plant. He was given tickets and escorted to the spot.

I beg to differ. I stood in line with the kid and his father for 18 hours on Wednesday. He does do a lot of filming for U2 and knows some people, but he doesnt know the band and he never said anything about being in a certain spot. He had been to almost all the other shows so far, so he knew where the best spot to be was. A security guard came up and talked to him before U2 took the stage, but no one spoke to him before that.

And speaking of the little kid, he was quite shy on Wednesday, didn't say much at all too us. On Thursday he wouldn't stop talking. I think a little trip around the ellipse had an effect...

Montreal IS loud and of the 9 Elevation shows it was easily the loudest (yes, surpassing Dublin, London, NYC, etc) but it's just noise. That's it. Hardly any singing at all!! I was disappointed in that regards but still a great show!

At one of the Montreal shows on the first leg they actually have somone measure the decible level of the crowd, and they were the loudest for the tour, I believe.

Bono said that they have an instrument that measures crowd noise every night and that the May 27, 2001 crowd at the Bell Centre was the "noisiest crowd on the whole tour". Granted that was before they went to Europe, but Bono reconfirmed it in the Octboer 12 show on the 3rd leg. I'm not sure what the October 12 show reached, but during the 1st May show, the instrument apparently recorded the crowd volume at 106 decibles, which is reported to be the tour record.

Any thoughts on this 'filming' being for the Good Morning America show to be aired in May?

other than this is probably the most likely explanation?

I really think Australia or South America should get a taping because of the fact that they've waited so long to see u2 live

I know they've already had had vids mexico sity and sydney...but honestly maybe they deserve it

U2 filmed both Edmonton Popmart performances in 1997, which was only 6 weeks into that tour.

The first 3 songs have been shown Canada's Muchmusic TV.

if you think any of those 4 NA shows will be any crazier than vancouver on thurs & fri... you are sadly mistaken... the band will be at their peak for the entire tour, and the presence of 3 saskatchewan folk will take this thing up a couple notches...

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

OH CANADA! I'm from Ontario but I've met some pretty crazy Saskatchewan'ers... don't mess with 'em!

Vancouver has a beautiful facility and it would be an excellent place for the DVD.

Toronto also seems like a decent choice with its four shows but so does NYC (3rd leg) and Amsterdam... I am Dutch Canadian so a 2 show DVD release from Amsterdam and Toronto (or Van-city) would be... well...

Yes, during the Oct. 12th show, Bono went backstage then came back and said something about the decimel metre having reached its limit and beyond and kept putting his hands over his ears to make his point. V. funny stuff!

U2 Live with Vertigo at Vancouver

I love the sound of that!

They should release 3 dvd's for the whole tour this time!!!
Another in Europe and another in South America or New Zealand:wink:

They're obviously working out camera positions etc. cause at Mondays Seattle show Hamish (the guy that put together the elevation dvd) stood right next to me at the outer edge of the eclipse for several songs taping with a small camera!
I almost felt like leaning over and asking so wich show for the dvd? but I didn't want to bother/piss him off!

I think it's does not speak well of U2 for them to use "plants" in their audiences - it makes them look like any other average rock band that needs to stoop to tricks to make their concerts a success.

Plus it gives less people the chance to be up on stage with U2 which is not cool.

Thanks for this info.

I have it from a reliable source that U2 is taping the video for COBL in Vancouver...maybe they will use some live footage??

Cheers,
Brady

HOT! HEY VANCOUVER - HELP MAKE THE NEXT U2 VIDEO

U2 is in Vancouver today to shoot a music video, and they need our help! @U2 staff is on hand and reports that the full announcement was supposed to hit U2.com at 1:00 pm PT. It doesn't appear to be there yet, so here's what we know:

The video will be shot this afternoon and evening at GM Place.
The first 4,000 fans to show up will be given a wristband to get in and be part of the shoot.
We can't confirm this, but all signs suggest it will be a live performance video for "City of Blinding Lights."
Sounds like fun! If you go, be warned that video shoots can sometimes last a long time, i.e. - well into the evening hours.

Update, 1:20 pm @U2 has just received this news release from U2's publicity staff in Vancouver:

U2 Shoot New Video in Vancouver

The GM Place will host the filming of U2's latest video today.

U2 fans are invited to attend this exclusive filming at the Arena in Vancouver.

Wristbands will be given out from 3pm after which, upon entry to the building, fans will receive a ticket to a reserved seat surrounding the stage. The first 4,000 people will be permitted to enter the venue.

Organisers ask that guests arrive no earlier than 3pm. Full security searches will be implemented at the door -- no recording devices of any type will be permitted in the venue, this includes cameras and cellphones. Anyone entering the venue with a recording device will be denied entry.

This Live video will be shot by French directors, Alex and Martin. The pair recently won a Grammy for directing U2's Vertigo, the debut single from the Number 1 album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Alex and Martin have also worked with The White Stripes, Kylie Minogue, Air, Jane's Addiction and Noir Desir.

He just pulled up a little boy that he knew for these shows, I don't see the problem  Besides, it was a little kid :cute:

Bono pulls up plenty of people by surprise, just ask Jason's or Devin's mother, or AlliDreamsoutloud, or bonogal, or Khelia, or Iris, etc. . .

That's pretty cool about the video today :hyper:

agreed but COBL is about NYC

so it just seems to fit

who knows...they may take shots of the band around NYC...and mix them in with the vancouver footage

I find most of the arguments against a Canadian city re: demographics, marketability etc to be pretty absurd. Will less Americans buy the DVD if it's filmed in Toronto? I think not. South AMericans couldnt give a damn, and neither could the Europeans. Thats not even including the Asian and Aussies.

The same amount of people will buy the latest ****U2 DVD**** no matter where its filmed cause it's about U2, not where the concert was held.

My 2 cents.

EDIT:

ZOO TV - AUSTRALIA
POPMART - MEXICO
ELEVATION - USA
SLANE - IRELAND

by far the worst of those 4 is the USA show, sorry. Im sure noone in the US cared about where ZOO and POP were filmed, they ate it up just the same...
