Ok, I recently bought tickets online at ebay. I was skeptical cause of the boston ticket fiasco. I bought tickets for the Toronto show and a phoenix show. Well the phoenix tickets were legit and I was sure they were because everyone tels of ways to spot a fake one of them being blue filament inside the ticket. I slightly teared my toronto ticket last night and UTOH. No blue. Im curious because its ticketmaster.ca a canadian agency do they do it differently. I also worried cause the guy is no longer a registered ebayer. I emailed him and said could you please level with me cause basically there is nothing I can do about it any way cause you are not a member of ebay and I couldnt report now anywho even if they were fake. He replied quickly and guaranteed their authenticity.

Other little stupid shit bothers me too, the barcode has a slight fade almost on one part.

The writing on the tickets slightly goes over a perferation.

Oh boy, I dont want to stand in line for eight hours and get to the front and have fake tickets.

Any one with canadian tickets let me now how yours look and what not.

HI there!~~~

I think your best bet is to bring it to a ticketmaster distributor and have them check it out, they would likely be able to tell you!

Good luck!!

i called ticketmaster and the guy was more concerned that i bought it from ebay than if it was real or not. The guy I bought the tickets from emailed me back and He sounded convincing so I trust him. It was just this blue fiber shit that had me concerned. Maybe that was only from U.S. tix though. I was hoping someone going to a toronto concert could have helped me out on that though.

As far as going to an outlet, that may not be a bad idea. But they cant scan the ticket there.

This is giving me a bad stomach ache.

A couple things...

You don't have to tear the ticket at all to see the blue threads...just look at the perforated edge where the ticket was ripped from the other ticket...you can see the blue there. BUT...the Toronto tickets DO NOT HAVE the blue threads in the middle. They are plain white all the way through. I just ripped my address ticket in half (that I got directly from Ticketmaster, so I know it's real)...no blue at all.

All these U2 tickets are printed with heat, not with ink. the words are burned onto the ticket. If it smears, it is ink and is fake. If you want to test the actual surface, an iron works much better than a lighter...you're not risking igniting the ticket. Just place a warm iron on a corner of the front...the part the iron touches will instantly turn black.

Don't compare a Toronto ticket to a Chicago ticket...I have both and they are pretty different. The colors are different. There is no tiny "TICKETMASTER" text around the middle part on the Toronto ones. Instead, there is a light Canadian flag in the middle. The Toronto ones have a zig-zag perforation down the middle instead of the straight line on the Chocago's.

I'd be freaking out too. Just go to a ticketmaster outlet and see if they notice anything unusual about it.

also, see if you can find out any contact info about the Ebay seller.

I'd tell the ticketmaster person that you bought it on Buy it Now at face or something, so you don't have to deal w/ "why were you buying scalped tix" business...Maybe they'd be slightly more accomodating then?? Probably not. Do you have any outlets near you, so you could physically bring them and have someone check them out for you? As much as it would suck to have them be fakes, it'd be better to know, right? Save you wasted time waiting (since you said something about waiting 8 hours, I'm assuming they're GA), also allowing yourself some time to keep an eye out for replacements (not that you'd want it to come to that, but really...wouldn't it be better to know for sure?)

thanks everyone, OK, good, toronto tix do not have any blue in them that calmed me down so much im not freaking out anymore.

My only concern now is the diff. sized barcodes, but on ebay listings I saw a slew of different ticket barcodes

mine has the numbers but the barcode does not extend past them.

something like

exactly, thanks. Im right across the border and it says there is a ticketmaster outlet in the casino right across the way so I will check that out later today or tomorrow.

Hope your ticket is OK The Brush. I've just returned from Barca. I bought a ticket from ebay. We had to meet the guy there to collect it. I was very worried about it. It turned out great. We ended up spending the whole weekend with him and his friend, we got on so well. Went to the show together too. BTW the Barca tix looked totally fake. Just photocopied paper tix. Everyone's looked the same. Good luck.
