Texas
I just heard general tickets sales start this Saturday at 10am for the Dallas show. I was debating on whether to go to a ticketmaster location or try my luck online. Any ideas/past experiences/suggestions? Are any of you in this area going to camp out or anything? Do people still do that?

I live in Mansfield and I'm thinking of going to Arlington and camping outside a Ticketmaster locale for a few hours. I just don't know if getting tickets in person rather than over the internet will increase the likelihood of getting my hands on some GAs.

be prepared to be buying the pricey tickets...thats all that will be left after the scalpers get their fill.

That's my worry too...I don't want to camp out and then wait in line...and then find out that someone online snagged my tickets just before I get to the front...I wish I had a wireless PC or something...then I could do both.

If you go brick and mortar
Find the most remote, desolate location if you want to buy tickets from a physical location. A place with a small population, some Dallas locations are far out, but with a large population (Plano, Fort Worth). Find the list, call Ticketmaster, think obscrure. Verify they are selling. Even if there is a "lottery" system, find the smallest line.

Using the phone:
You can also call the Ticketmaster # for any city, find a city that is not selling anything major Saturday morning. The line in Dallas will be packed.

Back during ZooTV, I went to rural grocery store in Marble Fallas, an hour west of Austin and got decent seats. The Erwin Center line was 500 people, the line at Marble Falls was 40 and I was in the top 10.

Using the phone and internet is the luck of the draw.

The odds of getting good seats during the general sales are slim. You game will be to get the best you can.

I would buy whatever you could, and try again during the inevitable second show.

My best advice is to join U2.com and stay a member (renew on the off years when there or no tours), eventually you will earn some level of seniority. In spite of the trouble, they have shown the "intent" to take care of veteran fan club members.

Here are the locations for all of Texas.

I would look into Tyler. Far out, not incredibly large. I would find out their system.

Do they have wristbands?
Do they allow camping?
Is it a lottery?
Does the location have WiFi?

Back during my Marble Falls-Zoo TV Trip, I had to go to Marble Falls twice, once to get the wristband, and then to get tickets on Saturday morning.

During the 3rd leg of the Elevation tour- I stood in line at Fiesta in Dallas. There were about 100 people there. By the time I got to the counter, they gave me seats behind the stage. I bought them anyways but then I called TM from my cell phone and ended up getting front row on the 2nd deck to Reunion Arena. So, my suggestion is to be on the phone with TM while in line if possible.

I thought you couldn't buy them over the phone...doesn't the TM website say that or am I confused? Tyler is like three hours away...you think it's worth it?

I think the pre-sale was only on the internet. The General sale probably has phone sales. Somebody can verify that, I was just assuming, why would the general sale not be on the phone line?

If you want to increase your odds, Wichita Falls and Tyler will have better odds of getting good seats.

If you can't go that far out, Frisco and Lewiville are better than Dallas proper, Arlington, etc.. But, being inside of the Metroplex is going to mean lines. U2 has lots of fans in the suburbs.

If you are serious, I would call Ticketmaster or the actual location you are interested in buying tickets at (The Foley's, FYI, etc...).

The internet might work, I just don't trust it for high traffic shows.

So any of these ticketmaster outlets will sell U2 tickets for Dallas & Houston? I'm in San Antonio and thnking of going to one of these obscure locations and try to score some GA's for both shows, is that possiblity? Thanks.

there is 4days open before the houston show....there needs to be a second houston date.

Yes, should work.

I would visit the location and let them know, make sure they can pull up Dallas and Houston shows. They might have to look it up in the computer, but I am almost 100% certain they can get your tickets.

Here is what goes on sale Saturday, listed on the Ticketmaster San Antonio page, the two Motley Crue shows are not in San Antonio. This is the competition at San Antonio locations.

Sunset Station Fri, 03/11/05
Motley Crue
American Bank Center Arena Sat, 03/12/05

careful with those fiesta's... you might get stuck behind 75 people paying their electric bill 10 days late :)

use on-line. you have access to virtually the same information the humans do and you can rely on your own fast fingers with three browsers open, as opposed to some 17 year-old at kroger who doesn't know if he needs to hit F2 or F3.

On the other hand, there is a lot more competition, thousands and thousands of people in their pajamas trying to hit the same page at the same time.

I have had mixed luck with Saturday morning internet sales.

It might be ok.

As for the stores, most that do a lot of ticket sales tend to have some level of organization established. The only time I have had to sit through bill payers has been when I bought tickets at random times during the week (not Saturday morning when tickets go on sale).

I would not go to location unless I had talked to them on the phone first, that is the way to know if it is a gamble worth taking.

most texas stores ive been to will do lottery...and the worst feeling in teh world is when you show up first or second...then pick your ticket..and the guy who showed up at 945 gets #1 and youre S.O.L last and get shafted.

I've been asking this a lot but do you think its possible they
will add a show in san antonio?I mean san antonio is a popular
city afterall.

It is possible, Joshua Tree, ZooTV, PopMart, and Elevation all hit either Austin or San Antonio.

However, I think it is unlikely. The schedule seems built to add Houston and Dallas shows.

If it were to happen, it would probably happen during a 4th leg/expanded 3rd leg if that came to be.

Judging from their schedule, it looks more like they may add a show in Houston or Dallas. I'm just speculating mind you....but it does seem odd with so many days between shows. Also, I picked up tickets for various shows at the Foleys in Irving. Their customer service area is kind of hard to find:wink:

Ahh...So there will be a 4th leg in the u.s?

Not that I know of. You are not likely to get the definitive answers for that sort of thing on a board like this, just speculation, rumors and educated guesses.

That being said, it is possible that Portland is not the final show.

For example, I remember that the several additional shows during the Elevation Fall 2001 leg were announced very late in the game (the November Dallas show was one of them).

Who knows. My recomendation is that fans focus on the shows and cities that we know about and not bank on possible future legs.

Thought you guys might find this interesting, I know I did...

Well, I can't post URL's yet, but if you go to eBay and search "U2 Dallas" you'll get an interesting find...

Two GA's for the affordable price of 1,500 dollars.

These people really make me sick. I'm very worried about my chances to land some GA's LEGIT on Saturday.

inmyplace,

i am also from mansfield. for the second elevation show in dallas, i went to foley's at the parks mall and got tickets pretty easily. walked right up. easiest ticket buying experience i've ever head, except for today when i did the presale thing.

I know this is a bit off topic, but this thread is the only one where I can lasso (pardon the pun) a bunch of Texans at once.

I'm from Philadelphia, but I got 2 GA tickets for Houston on 10/28/05. I'll be visiting my sister in Houston that week. Here's the thing. I've never been to Houston (or Texas for that matter). I don't know anything about the Toyota Center. The seating chart on Ticketmaster's web site is strange. It make the Toyota Center look like it's shaped like a four-leaf clover. Is it really?

Also, is the Toyota Center in downtown Houston; or, is it sitting alone by itself in the middle of nowhere (like so many other sports arenas)? Is there anything to do in the neighborhood of the arena before/after the show (i.e. restaurants, bars, etc.)??

Any info that you can provide would be appreciated.

I'm not in TX obviously but just a few things for you guys. Ticketmaster outlets are suppose to do a lottery 30 minutes prior to the general onsale if there is more than 2 people in line. So camping out at an outlet is not going to do you any good. You can order tickets online, by phone or in person.

Regarding more shows in TX, doubdtful that Houston is getting another show. Dallas is a possibility. They are playing a 2nd show in Detroit on the 25th and they have to have time to travel to a different region. Also, when shows get added they are almost always AFTER the initial show. They dont typically add shows ahead of the first one that goes onsale. Not saying its impossible, but its unlikely. Also U2 typically does not play 3 days in a row, they like to give Bonos vocals a rest after 2 days in a row.

no..its built like your average basketball arena...very nice though. its right downtown across from the Minute Maid Park (astros). You most likely wont eat downtown, but everywhere is just a 10min drive to the venue..so its no biggie. got any GA extras? haha..prob not

knuckle -

i live in dallas but lived in houston for while.

as has already been stated, the toyota center is in downtown. however, as opposed to most large city downtown's, houston is not at all difficult to drive around - lots of outerlying streets that take you in.

there aren't a ton of good restaurants, but the general nightlife of downtown houston is pretty decent. with all the prep for the superbowl and mlb all-star game a while back the city did a lot to clean things up - just be careful not to turn left over a lightrail track. lots of bars and clubs (if you're into that sort of thing) all bunched fairly close together.

I'm just pumped for my first U2 Texas shows, I moved here last summer in Dallas and it'll be my first time seeing U2 here in TX!

I'm from Boston and I will get there in May to visit and see those shows in May so YEAH U2!

Love and Peace or Else,
