1) It doesn't seem to work. People barely remember the South Africa gig, and my friends that aren't U2 fans don't even know it happened.
2) Africa needs health care, education, clean water, and infrastructure. You can't "buy" these things with donations or even make a dent, even if you have a billion dollars to donate. They come as a result of debt relief, proper government, and a more stable economy.
