Jersey Girl is a Tom Waits song Bruce covered live from time to time in the 80s.

thanks, stupid mistake caused by lack of sleep.

tw "hope i don't fall in love with you" = one of my favorite songs of all time

I feel like New York has been snippeted every time I've seen them this tour during Streets, right before the lights SHOULD come up but they don't  and Edge rips into it; Bono goes NEEEEEEW YOOOOOOOOOOORKKKKK

But maybe I've been hearing things.

Let's see if this list is concise....

Cat Dubh
Zoo Station
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Please
Mofo
Even Better
Last Night On Earth
Until The End Of The World(?)
City Of Blinding Lights
Miracle Drug
any song sung by Edge
love Is Blindness(?)
Pride(?)
New Years Day(?)
Gone

There's more...

u2fp

Please had some song called Broken English a couple of times, UTEOTW has had Two Tribes and ... something else that escapes my mind right now, and Love Is Blindness has included snippets of September 1913 (a poem) and All Along The Watchtower.

Like A Song and Indian Summer Sky can be added to the list. Not that they've been played enough to have much chance for snippeting!

Can't think of any snippets during OOTS, Crumbs, or Fast Cars.

Would it be easier just to put up every original u2 song they have played live and then just chip away at the list?

Yeah, probably, or we could go album by album.

BOY

I Will Follow - besides "ring those bells", I can't think of anything.
Twilight - nothing.
An Cat Dubh - nothing.
Into The Heart - nothing
Out Of Control - now, this one's debatable. On 22 March 1983, Bono sings a portion of Be There, which became All I Want Is You. Specifically, he sings "all I want is you" in the Be There manner. Beyond this, I can't think of anything but I think there has been something ...
Stories For Boys - nothing.
The Ocean - I think nothing, though there was some of Behind Blue Eyes at a recent show that some listed as being during the lead-in of Ocean rather the end of Electric Co.
A Day Without Me - nothing.
Another Time, Another Place - nothing.
The Electric Co. - everything under the sun and then some!
Shadows And Tall Trees - nothing.

Boy/Girl - I'm A Believer, and I think a couple of others.
Another Day - nothing.
11 O'clock Tick Tock - a lot, such as Give Peace A Chance and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
Touch - nothing.
Things To Make And Do - nothing.
I cannot think of any snippets during any Boy-era unreleased songs played live.

I feel there's too many nothings there, though the Boy era wasn't as snippet-heavy as later ones have been.

OK, I'm bored, and I'm listing this off the top of my head. So there may be mistakes, and snippets I don't know about. So this certainly can't be taken as definitive. Anything with 'nothing', feel free to correct. If I name something, I don't necessarily mean it's the only snippet, it's just what popped into my head.

OCTOBER

Gloria - Van Morrison's Gloria
I Fall Down - nothing.
I Threw A Brick - nothing.
Rejoice - nothing.
Fire - nothing.
Tomorrow - nothing.
October - nothing.
With A Shout - nothing.
Scarlet - nothing

That seems too nothingish to be true! Anyone got anything?

WAR

Sunday Bloody Sunday - Get Up Stand Up
Seconds - nothing.
New Year's Day - I honestly can't think of anything, though surely it's been played so much that Bono threw in a line somewhere!
Like A Song - nothing
Two Hearts Beat As One - Let's Twist Again
Surrender - Relax, There's A Hole In The Bucket
40 - Do They Know It's Christmas?, We Are The World, Give Peace A Chance

A Celebration - nothing
Party Girl - can't think of anything.

THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE

A Sort Of Homecoming - nothing.
Pride - nothing?
Wire - nothing.
The Unforgettable Fire - Bono sung some improvised lyrics early on the UF Tour that sounded poetic but I don't think it was a snippet.
Bad - everything and its mother.
Indian Summer Sky - nothing.
MLK - nothing.

Someone earlier in this thread sai Party Girl was snippet heavy at an 1985 Bologna show.
That was me, but I don't recognize anything that he sang as being some other song. I think it was just a lot of made up lyrics.

Those were completely improvised lyrics.

OK, to round out the eighties ...

THE JOSHUA TREE

Streets - All You Need Is Love, Heartland, In God's Country, Resolution And Independence, a psalm whose number I forget, etc ...
ISHFWILF - Exodus, In A Little While, Stand By Me
WOWY - Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission, Strangers In The Night
Bullet - The Hands That Built America, Please, When Johnny Comes Marching Home
RTSS - Dirty Old Town, Amazing Grace, Walk On
IGC - Can't think of any.
One Tree Hill - nothing.
Exit - Van Morrison's Gloria, Riders On The Storm
Mothers Of The Disappeared - El Pueblo Vencera, Isaiah 41

Spanish Eyes - nothing.
Sweetest Thing - nothing?
Silver And Gold - nothing?

RATTLE AND HUM

Van Diemen's Land - nothing.
Desire - 1969, So You Wanna Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star, Not Fade Away, Van Morrison's Gloria
Hawkmoon 269 - nothing.
Angel Of Harlem - this had stuff on ZooTV, not that I remember what it was. My Girl was one.
When Love Comes To Town - In The Midnight Hour.
Love Rescue Me - nothing?
God Part II - nothing.
All I Want Is You - Sexual Healing

All Along The Watchtower - In God's Country
Slow Dancing - nothing.
She's A Mystery To Me - nothing.

I think that completes the eighties songs done live.

Bono has also snippeted Dancing On The Ceiling (by Lionel Richie) during this song. It was at the 'Save The Yuppies' concert in San Francisco, 1987.

OCTOBER

I Fall Down - nothing
Rejoice - nothing.

At several concerts on the US leg of the War tour, Bono snippeted A Hard Day's Night (The Beatles) during I Fall Down.
And U2 snippeted Like A Rolling Stone (by Bob Dylan) at least once during Rejoice (7 August 1982, Turku, Finland)

Party Girl - can't think of anything.

IIRC, the traditional Auld Lang Syne has been snippeted occasionally during this song.

THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE

A Sort Of Homecoming - nothing.
Wire - nothing.

A few times on the second US leg of The Unforgettable Fire tour, Bono snippeted Satellite Of Love (by Lou Reed) during A Sort Of Homecoming.
Wire ended regularly with a few verses from John Lennon's Gimme Some Truth.

Forgot to mention these earlier...

BOY

Twilight - nothing.
A Day Without Me - nothing.

During the War tour, Bono regularly snippeted Too Shy (by Kajagoogoo) during Twilight. And A Day Without Me regularly featured Dear Prudence (by The Beatles).

:)

I have a mp3 of EBTTRT from 12-04-2001 where there is a snippet in the place of "take me higher", but I can't understand the lirycs...

If you want to check it out, here's the link:

Discotheque was Popmart's snippet-fest, with some performances having upwards of three snippets, such as Can't Stand The Rain, Life During Wartime, Stayin' Alive, The Fly, and Whole Lotta Love.

You forgot "Black Betty". That was great

OK, to summarise then, here are the songs which never seemed to have a snippet in them. These are the Eighties:

Stories For Boys
The Ocean
Another Time Another Place

There was one show this year with an All You Need Is Love snippet at the end of Streets, and my favourite ever Streets has William Wordsworth's Resolution And Independence snippeted during the intro.

Songs like Party Girl, An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart, Zoo Station, and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses haven't had snippets.
Are you referring to this at the beginning of Streets?

"The old Man still stood talking by my side;
But now his voice to me was like a stream
Scarce heard; nor word from word could I divide;
And the whole body of the Man did seem
Like one whom I had met with in a dream; "

My favourite opening to Streets ever.
