I think it would be a cool idea, I could see JD Fortune doing a duet with Bono, that originally Michael was to do, but committed suicide...

INXS is big in Sydney and such... so why not?

Why in New Zealand? INXS has bugger all to do with New Zealand.

Sydney's in Australia. Learn some geography.

 Another theu2fly post with stupid factual errors

(Also, no, INXS isn't big anywhere in Australia or NZ, except in the sense of being a big joke, and your idea is laughable.)

I completely disagree, I think it would be great for the new INXS to open for u2.

I will start by this. Bono and Michael Hutchance are by far my two favorite front men of all time. Michael touched me as a poet, and a performer. It was him that drew me to INXS. That being said J.D. Fortune although never able to replace him is a great substitute. He is a huge fan of INXS and his voice is eerily similiar to Michael's.

Why not open for u2? Why not give the band the opportunity to play such a big stage that after Michaels death they probably thought they would never play again? The band is having fun again an J. D is fresh, young, origional, and filling in fine.

Their new cd Switch is better than the last 2 cds INXS put out after X.

Michael will never be replaced. Everyone knows that. But the rest of the band needs to move on. Michaels legacy is what it is and everyone,(including JD) knows what it is. OPening for our favorite band would be amazing and by far the best opening act this entire tour.

Of course this is just my opinion and music is the most subjective arguement we could have but I am just as much moved by afterglow as I am Mystify, never tear us apart, the stairs, and by my side.

Just did a little digging......here is a quote from JD ....lets not hate him too bad come on....."Back in the '80s, all I listened to was Kick and Joshua Tree," Fortune said of the legendary rivalry between INXS and U2. "Honestly, man... Bono's great. But Michael had the sex appeal."

I love Elagantly wasted.....You really think Switch is shit?

Agh a forum for the open minded. No music dominates my world more than u2 but god forbid someone sticks up for another band around here.

Yea i hate it ... i don't know if its cause i don't like the idea of reality television to replace michael hutchence but i've tried to listen to it a few times and never get to the end ... its just not the same

Couldnt agree more about reality TV. I have to look past that. Love INXS and JD honestly doesnt bother me at all.

You've got to be joking right ... i love the old INXS they're one of my favourite bands but the new INXS has become almost a joke in some ways ... They've gone to a completly stupid amount of commercialism to replace an irreplaceable singer in Michael hutchence ... regardless of what anybody has to say about them they're never going to be INXS in my eyes at least ... the whole concept of replacing him through a TV show i believe is disrespectful to Michael Hutchence

I absolutely agree. But if they found JD on their own without the show would you have a different opinion? Reality TV blows and I see the disrespect to Michael. But in my opinion he isnt bad. Would it really be better for the band to completely disappear to never be heard of again?

No. They can form a new band if they want. Like Joy Division did after they lost their lead singer. It's a bit like if anything happened to Bono. The others can go form a new band (which I may like) but it shouldn't be called U2.

As for the openmindness issue, I'm an INXS fan from way back. I can recall hearing Just Keep Walking on the radio. I have most of the old albums on vinyl as I bought them on the time. I saw INXS live in the 1980's. INX$ are shite.

A new name and new songs. Otherwise they'll just be a parody of themselves.

Exactly.

Joy Division/New Order got the "continuing to make music after the lead singer dies" thing right. INX$ just look greedy.

Didnt something similar happen to Pink Floyd yet nobody complains.

that was rather mean. come on axver, you know posts like these are being out of line and you could've just pointed out that sydney was in australia, not new zealand.

i just wish everyone could play nice :sigh:

So I guess AC/DC should not be called AC/DC because they continued with the name after the first singer died? What about Van Halen?
