You wouldn't have had that incredible cover of Instant Karma last night without the NY audience :madspit:

I don't see why the NYC audience is exclusive to MSG. And I'd rather U2 play their own songs anyway.

MSG just ties to close to the city of New York itself

you think of Coney Island
Rockefeller Center
the Radio City Music Hall
the Empire State Building
and
Madison Square Garden

it's one of the great American venues

The other buildings are great American buildings but MSG is a great world building. It's probably the most famous arena in the world.

Axver.. MSG is the holy grail of concert venues... that's just fact.

You'll never win that argument.
i never understood it when people said that until I saw shows there...it's so true. Can't even explain it, but it's a phenomenal atmosphere/vibe.

PLEBA drool alert:

I think people get excited over the "history" of MSG. But I guess I don't understand it either. "Glorify the past, the future dries up" m i rite?!!?!

Bono's interest in music hasn't wained. he just has more on his plate now. U2 is the only band to be at it this long an actually still remain relevant. The age range at their shows is amazing. THEY ARE NOT QUITTING!!!!!!

I don't have the exact quote, but it went somthing along the lines of...

"Back when I was 20 or 30 I used to wake up thinking about the band, about music, nowadays I rarely wake up thinking about the band, I am thinking about world poverty and how to solve it".

I would also present the lyrics of HTTDAAB as Evidence Item B.

I really don't care. What's so special about MSG? It's just a frigging arena.

If you want a special venue, how about U2 play atop One Tree Hill or walk the streets of Hobart, Tasmania (aka Van Diemen's Land)?

It just is, the best shows of the Rock Era have been at MSG so many times that comparisons with other venues are foolish. I've had most of the best days of my life at the Garden!

crazy plebans just throw stuff on the ground so they can watch members of the band bend over to pick it up

You're probably right, I'm not well-versed in arena/stadium knowledge at all, I really only know

Dodger Stadium
Wrigley Field
Yankee Stadium
Fenway Park
MSG
and the old Forum in LA (is that still around? because I know the Lakers/Clippers play at the Staples Center now)

god, how depressing, in some respects. we are truly dorks

At least we're all dorks together. We're all shining in our dorkdom tonight. I mean, I totally can't here most of what's going on with the phone, and I know the rest of y'all can't either, but I don't dare shut it off in case I miss the one time they play the rarest of rare live songs.

U2 should be the first rock band on the moon. Edge will take them!
