Running to Stand Still -> Streets is amazing.

Best transition for Streets is William S. Borroughs "A Thanksgiving Prayer":

"A Thanksgiving Prayer"

Thanks for the wild turkey and the passenger pigeon, destined to be shit out through wholesome American guts.
Thanks for a continent to despoil and poison.
Thanks for Indians to provide a modicum of challenge and danger.
Thanks for vast hordes of bison to kill and skin leaving the carcasses to rot.
Thanks for bounties on wolves and coyotes.
Thanks for the American dream, to vulgarize and falsify until the bare lies shine through.
Thanks for the KKK.
For ******-killin' lawmen, feelin' their notches.
For decent church-going' women, with their mean, pinched, bitter, evil faces.
Thanks for "Kill a Queer for Christ" stickers.
Thanks for laboratory AIDS.
Thanks for Prohibition, and the war against drugs.
Thanks for a country where nobody's allowed to mind their own business.
Thanks for a nation of finks.
Yes, thanks for all the memories -- all right let's see your arms!
You always were a headache and you always were a bore.
Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreams.

 that's...quite a transition

I think One Step Closer would make a brilliant transition into Streets, though nothing could beat Please.

The Please to Streets transition in St. Louis in 97 was one of the best moments of any of the 9 shows I've seen since 1992. It was amazing!

Yeah, nothing better than an all-out America bashing transition into streets.

Anyways, my personal favorite was All I Want is You into streets [face_love]

I only heard that recording this week (thanks Kev  ) and I can't get over that opener!!!!!

Wrong, wrong, wrong, you're got it all wrong.....the best transition to Streets was on Elevation tour when they did the Bad- "40" snippet- Streets transition thing. That was amazing.

why did my asshole alert just go off?

I didn't mind the Elevation intro. The "what can I give back to God..." talk was fine because it wasn't too specific about any one thing. I think Streets has very personal meaning for a lot of U2 fans, so when Bono starts talking about very specific things, like Poverty in Africa or Sam Beckett (like on some Lovetown shows) it takes away from the song. I think the music in the intro is very moving and powerful and any talking is unneccesary.

Great post!

I agree man, I don't mind the "What can I give back to God..." and the "Oh Lord open my lips..." I actually think both just increase the energy in the beginning of the song and then it just explodes as it takes off.

Oh, and the transition of MLK -> Streets during the Superbowl halftime show is the greatest one of them all. Although I do like the Boston DVD one a lot, and then not to mention the All I Want is You -> Streets on the Slane DVD. All very nice, but I think the Superbowl one is the greatest.

Just my opinion!
