What is U2 had no backing tapes. All they had were two mics, two guitars, drums and a bass. Nothing else. It would make a U2 unbelieveable. God, that would be amazing. Nothing added, 100% live.

That is exactly what I want. Exactly what we had pre-UF.

Why?
its a key element to thier sound.
I want to hear Edge's echo effects and the tape loops.
This is like those people that complain about movies with too much CGI. Its not the CGI its the story. A good song is a good song and the tape loops can add to it.
Not that I don't love U2 stripped down too but I don't mind the tape loops at all.

They can still have effects, just no tape loops. Which means, Bad and Streets will have to be re-worked. I still love everything else, I just think it would be cool to see one concert like that.

I think they can keep some stuff, really, but it needs to stop being restrictive. There may have been a loop in Bad, but it can be anything between 6 and 16 minutes long. You don't see that on something such as Gone. If the technology restricts the length of a song (whether it's tape loops or visuals onscreen or anything like that), it should be removed.

don't like that loop in gone...the song seems so...artificial.

imagine if there were no backing tracks....
it's not easy even if you try
