Should be a baker's dozen but....
September 26 1987 - Philadephia - Joshua Tree - This should be the date of my first U2 concert but it all went wrong. I was living in Washington, D.C. and I had read a little blurb on U2 concert dates that was printed in Rolling Stone magazine. Spur of the moment, I drove up solo from D.C. thinking I'd buy from a scalper in the parking lot. I arrived at a very vast and very empty parking lot at John F. Kennedy stadium. Rolling Stone had gotten the date WRONG...they had played the night before on the 26th!! Fuck. How about that as a buzz kill to what should have been a great road trip? To top it off...Springsteen had been there and sung Stand By Me with the band. The reviews of the show are wonderful. This wouldn't have happened in the internet age....but back then I was the American Idiot.
Los Angeles Coliseum - November 17th 1982 - Joshua Tree tour - I had moved to Los Angeles and scored 12th row floor tickets so you can screw Philly. The Olympic tour was lit to open the show and One Tree Hill was played. From what I remember, this was an awesome show.
Los Angeles Sports Arena - April 12 + 13th 1992 - Incredible floor seats. I held up Bono as he sang UTEOTW on the first night. I would guess that's akin to smoking crack.
October 30th - Outside ZooTv Broadcast - Dodger Stadium
November 14th 1992 - Last U.S. date of ZooTv
June 21st 1997 - Popmart - Horrible nosebleed seats at the Los Angeles Coliseum - I had the chance to upgrade via scalper outside of the stadium but was convinced the guy was a cop. Was it really almost five years between these two tours?
Elevation:
Anaheim 2
Boston 1 - GA
Los Angeles 3 - GA twice, heart once
