Well, as a guy who actually goes to listen to music, Bono mumbling the lyrics thoroughly ruins a song that's already past its use-by date.

The only time I really want to see a person on stage is if they're joining the band to play an instrument and bust out some rare song, like the guy who began playing ASOH on 2001-11-16 and U2 actually went along with him.
