Apparently VR fans are not nearly as hardcore (read: nerdish) as us... no mention of lining up for GA... :|

Bon Jovi is going seats on the floor.. Pansies... so they're no help...

I Just got back from the Palace they have no clue on whats going on next week! First I went to the box office to ask them if they knew anything, they said to talk to security. I went to ask the secrurity guard if he knew what gate or entrance we could line up at. He had no clue. He said the lot would open at 2 or 3 or 4. The lot is open if you want to go to the box office during the day but all cars are cleared from the lot prior to them opening the lot for cars to park for an event. He said they will tow your car if you do not move it. I ask if we could get dropped off and wait in line before the gates officially open and he said "No". He said no one would be allowed to wait before an event. The security guard seemed like he was making up answers just to get me to leave. I called guest relations and they said the gates open 2 1/2 hours before an event. Seems like Monday and Tuesday are just normal days for them.

The foo's

Thanks for the info chuckver... seems like we're going to have to keep on them 'til they start to get an idea of just how annoying U2 fans can be

I sent an email to them as well :D

I've never done GA so I don't know the answer to this....does the venue need a GA policy? Why can't we just get there when we want to?

Also, I'm from MN so I have no clue where this place is located. Is there a place nearby that we can park if the arena won't let us park in their lot? Is it located in a downtown area where there is a 24 hour ramp or anything like that?

Finally....maybe we need to contact someone in charge of the Palace instead of guest relations since they appear to be clueless as to how this works. We still have a few days for them to figure it all out.

There is a link somewhere around here to a satellite picture of the palace... there is NOTHING around. Couple gas stations across a busy 6 lane road (maybe 4, dont remember, but no pedestrian crossing) which close early and a McDonalds about a mile up ahead, but no sidewalks

And the policies issued by the venues are never really followed... ie. most of them say no camping allowed!!!11 No lining up until 9:00 am!!!111 and we still break them, but at least it indicates to us that they KNOW we're coming and are planning on getting there waaaaaaaaaaaay before 9:00 am.

So the lack of an official GA policy from the palace just signals to me that they're not ready for us

:| there isn't a sidewalk?!?! Even the Target Center in Mpls had a place for people to stay...and there isn't much room in front of the TC either!

What a mess. :( I want my only GA experience to go smoothly!!!!!!!!! :scream:

Oh, I meant sidewalk to go to the McDonalds... provided we don't get escorted out, there is definitely place for us to set up camp  Nothing but room as a matter of fact...

I also sent a long e-mail to the address Miro posted so I'll post any info I get. I basically told them how things have gone at other venues, how U2 fans are expecting things to go...kind of a "we'll scratch your back (behave) if you scratch ours (let us camp!)" implication.

Where do we go to the bathroom?

Did anyone see the satellite picture I posted? :(

There is NOTHING but concrete around the Palace... So where to stand around away from the traffic and near the gate is not an issue...

As for bathrooms, if there are no port a potties :barf: the only choices are the McDonalds, the gas stations and the hotel rooms a couple of us will have...

So my key concern is, if the parking lots are closed, we will have to walk quite a long distance to get to our cars each and every time...

Bathrooms is becomming a big concern of mine. I can hold it for over 12 hours, but, without going into too much detail, I've been having trouble with some of my, ahem...feminine medications over the past few months....and things aren't working the way they're supposed to in terms of what happens when and for how long....and sometimes I HAVE to have access to a bathroom every 3 hours, at most. I suppose I can bring a gardening trowel

there is a gas station one cm to the right and three cm down from the red balloon thingy.

Yup, but last time I drove by on a saturday night around 11:30 and they were both closed  And again, they're across the road...

:hyper:

This is gonna be fun!

we will really have to depend on each other Sunday, If we only have one car at the premises, that will be a good thing. The other can park at the hotel. We will have to take turns making bathroom runs, as at least two of us have to be at the venue at all times. But I think the car situation will be the biggest problem, so the fewer cars we have there the better

Agreed! That's what I had suggested earlier on... I have a black Explorer with tinted windows in the back... stealth! :shifty:

The lot is open during the day but I do not think they will let us form a line even on the grass in front of the Palace. After the Piston Pacer fight security really has increased. During the Elevation Tour I had seats but remember driving thru the lot during the day of the concert and they did allow people to line up outside the main entrance. Hopefully they will get a plan before Monday.

Chuckver... are you near the Palace?

That route intrigues me... :hmm: I think that particular driveway is also gated though... If we could park our cars overnight there and just move them by early morning, I think we'd be ok...

i live about 30 minutes away, but I used to work about 10 minutes away. The main Entence is the only one open during the day and thats the one by the red pointer.

that is also the route I was intersted in...... maybe somebody there could check it out?

The driveway I refer to as possibly being gated is the one off of Harmon road (the main road) not just the entrance TO the parking lot... :(

I will stop by again sometime this week and check out the lot and check in with security again. Probably Wednesday.

I remember when Kristina and I did GA for Bruce we went to the gas station across the street and hung there for a few hours, then the Post let us park in their lot until the Palace let us go over. Maybe we can call the Post and see if they have any ideas of how things went during Elevation, because they were pretty cool with us for bruce?

They did let us cross over and line up near the highway for almost all of the day, too. It definitely was a pain to have to go to the bathroom or get to your car.

If you're looking for some inexpensive hotels:

Hotwire the Homestead Studio (Auburn Hills) for $27 a night. (They will give you 1 queen at that rate)

Priceline the Marriott (Pontiac) for $50 a night.

Impressed!

"Woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle"

I've been hangin out with you diehards for a few days now and I"m stupor impressed by your perserverence. How can I help?

There is no way this old girl can hang out all night Sunday night, but I will be down the road at the Best Western. I don't know if there is anything I can do, but I'm willin. Just clue me in! (I make a awesome chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie ;~} I'm thinkin about 184 dozen otta do it?

Impressed with just how psychotic we are? So am I

Just drop by line and say hi... :hyper:
