i definitely have to say i have mixed emotions on the milwaukee show.

it was my 22nd birthday, my very first U2 concert, and I went alone. I got there at 3am and was NUMBER 5!!! I slept for a little bit on concrete. I met a TON of cool people in line, all you guys out there rock. Everyone was cool sharing their pillows, blankets, food and water with me. And Everyone honored the numbering system we started, including the bradley center security (who let us go in and use the bathrooms, they were too nice).

Around 10am it started raining, no no.. it started pouring, thundering and lightning. and it didn’t stop barely at all. around 3-4pm i went to go see where the band was pulling in. after an hour and a half of waiting i decided that i was gonna go back in line. i cross the street and what happens? they ALL pull in. I thought since it was raining they wouldn’t come out, but later i was told that they did. It was my sister actually who told me that. she decided to come to milwaukee to visit me in line. she hates u2 but scanned the line of people meeting bono and edge. she was two feet away from them and it didn’t even phase her... i wonder what they thought of that?!

now that part didn’t bother me so much because i’ve met bono and edge before, but the fact that i waited, was soaking wet, and missed my sister by seconds got to me.

finally we get to go inside and... the guy in front of me gets vertigo, and the THREE people behind me ALL got scanned vertigo. they wanted to take me but i took off and didn’t hear them calling. so THAT sucked. thankfully i got the rail at the tip of the catwalk.

i was cold, tired, soaking wet, my feet killed, i waited all day, then i had to hear dashboard confessionals. not something i was looking forward to (no offense to their fans)... and FINALLY.. u2 goes on..

now i’ll admit, there were times that were completely euphoric for me, such as:

1.) when bono stepped on the barricade in front of me, totally got to feel his leg.
2.) the fact that it was u-fricking-2
3.) the edge
4.) adam
5.) discovering that adam is not photogenic and is so dog-gone sexy in person
6.) bono singing opera... omg.
7.) meeting tons of cool people
8.) getting backstage

but then there were times that really got the best of me.

1.) i felt as though they should’ve walked the catwalk more.
2.) the ticket scanning idea is bulls**.. i waited all day and i’m not in.. that was pretty sucky.
3.) shortened songs
4.) yahweh being a total dissapointment.
5.) adam only making one complete circle on the catwalk once... that REALLY put a damper on things.
6.) the crowd thinking i paid to hear THEM sing.. at times you couldn’t hear bono at all.
7.) meeting some groupies who like to keep u2 for themselves. they were mean
8.) the general sound being kind of empty
9.) getting lost and rear-ending someone on the way home (to michigan)

from what everyone says i was totally looking forward to this show and really expected a lot. and because it wasnt up to my expectation and i still had somewhat of a good time... it leaves me with mixed feelings ... i’m a huge u2 fan but i think i’m gonna have to say that coldplay put on a better show when i saw them.

i have tix for both detroit shows, so HOPEFULLY it will be better.. see you in line.

that's what I want to know.. this seems to be the most interesting part!

the crowd thinking i paid to hear THEM sing.. at times you couldn’t hear bono at all.
I believe that the band fed off of that energy. AGAIN I had no trouble hearing Bono......... and neither did some friends who were sitting elsewhere.......
also, what others are asking
how the hell did ya get backstage and what was it like back there?

xErinx, I wish you would 've been by us! Went to Milwaukee, too. We were #38 and #39. Sorry you didn't have the greatest time. I suppose if you come alone it is a bit more of a pain when people aren't as talkative and nice. The people right in front of us just played chess the whole time when it wasn't raining and didn't talk 2 us at all. Other people were totally great and we talked alot. Happily for us, we were able to get into the ellipse. There is always your other shows in the future so I wish you the best. If you want to see any pictures from closer up, email me and I'll be happy to send you a link. Otherwise, they are in my other posts in photobucket.com. Too bad we didn't meet. I would've happily taken you in!!!

Yeah! I wanna know about how you got backstage!!! Why didn't you elaborate on that a little???

Maybe she meant something else? This sounds unlikely....

to answer the biggest question here. i was just waiting outside for the guys to come out after the show and the main security man offered to take me and another girl backstage. i didn't ask or anything, so it was mainly just a matter of security being fond of you is what i'm guessing. so me and another girl went back there, checked everything out, went in the dressing rooms. and i can tell you right now, we got the weirdest looks from the crew.

i thought if you worked anywhere you had no escorting privledges, but this guy had no fear of loosing his job??

Hola #5!

I'm the blonde that talked to you after the show. I was with
The girl who went back stage with you! Sorry to hear about your mishap on the way home.

I can't remember the mans name but he was head of security at the Bradley Center. He was very cool. The GA line in Milwaukee went very smoothly, and security was very respectful of the fan run numbered line system. It was actually very cool of him to let you and my friend in the back. We were waiting for the band to come out after the show so he at least proved to us that we were waiting for nothing. The guys were gone before the lights even went back on. NOW THAT IS FAST!
Anyhoo, Have fun in Detroit! Wish I was going but no luck in tickets. :0(
Take care,
Feathers
