But Grenier, she's "like a bird"!! How can that be all bad...

I knew there was something wrong when my ex wife liked Nelly F more than U2.. no wonder i kicked her!! Nelly rolled out w/ a 10 piece band! and still put on an average show..

keep in mind, KOL could barely finish a song w/o messing up until almost a year ago..they dont claim to be great musicians, just a bunch of red-necks that want to rock.. Thee, whats up w/ you meeting them after SJII??

My problem w KOL is when I read statements like this made by the drummer in a R/S. interview:

The Kings met U2 last October, when they were summoned to the band's dressing room after a taping of the British music program CD: UK. "We were like, 'All right!'" remembers Nathan, the drummer. "We ordered some drinks, and we all sat around talking about shit. The funny thing was that they knew a lot more about us than we knew about them." Two weeks later KOL were invited to open all twenty-six of U2's spring gigs.

Their only saving grace is that U2 picked them so they get a pass.
I bought their CD, gave it a listen and thought no..they don't sound that bad, do they? So I gave it a second listen, and had to trade it in taking a 50% loss.

Being ever the optimist I thought well maybe this is one of those rare bands that are better live than in the studio.(Like Springsteen)
Sadly I was disappointed on that front too.

But again, U2 picked them, so I say cut'em some slack.

KOL 2005 = Lone Justice 1985 (not 87 they opened for the UF tour not JT).

I had a headache by the time both left the stage. I can't believe someone on here actually liked Lone Justice.

Just bought the KOL record...finally something original, strange and uplifting at the same time comming out of the speakers again.
Damn you Coldplay damn you to hell!!!!

I can fully understand why bono and the guys wanted this band to open for them, it's fresh interpol etc are very nice but so cliche it isn't even funny anymore and I saw Keane couple of weeks ago...decent sound but talk about no stagepresence whatsoever...I really dig Franz Ferdinand though...

Verdict on KOL new record: 8.6.....

I'm a fan of Kings of Leon. I don't think there an amazing live band, but they play some rockin tunes are real good as far as getting the crowd warmed up. Love "The Bucket," "Molly's Chambers" and "spiral staircase."

I think they suck.

I disagree. They're young, hard workers, and have a lot of talent. Granted, the audio was too loud, but the band played well, and have some good songs. Most young bands sound repetitive after a few songs (U2 did), but I think we will see some great music come from these guys. IMHO of course!

Uh, really not my type of music. Some of the songs have a good beat that you can get into..

One sort of funny story last night-from my seat I could see the GA entrance very well, at one point one of the guys from KOL was walking down to go backstage I presume(before they were even on stage). The security guard stopped him, I guess they're not well known by security or anyone else

They were very polite to the audience and the audience was to them as well.

Saw the Kings of Leon from the front rail of the Elipse in Seattle.

They were Loud and Meticulos, not commericial at all.

I went to the music store, previewed their new cd, bought the same.

After several listens , and one live show, i have the following comments.

Good young band, lots of potential and talent.

Strong , interesting lyrics and great musicianship, these guys could develop nicely.

They need some stronger technical support both for live shows (although i need to see them as the sole act to really commment) and in the studio. Perhaps the cash they hopefully make on this tour will afford them the above.

In sum, I will buy thier first and next cd just becuase they are a rock'n roll act and these are sadly few and far betwen these days with all the hip / hop / rap / bubblegum saturated market we now know as the music industry. As Bono says a group like U@ would not survive in the present music industry.

I rest my case.

Also interested if anyone else has any new bands they have heard that they recommend.

Cheers

That'd be in-co-rect y'all, I aint no rel-ie-tive to no one from that far down to the sotuth, matter a fact y'alls closer.

I'll have to admit, I've now seen them 4 times now and they've grown on me.

(I never thought I'd be saying this after opening night).

you guys should get the cd's and read the words. It makes his singing style very tolorable. IMO KOL rock hard. I really enjoyed seeing them and will certainly see them again if the come around to play smaller venues.

KOL Lyrical Content

Yes, that is true, the writting style is reminescant of JD Salinger (Twain).

Also I dont care shite about the vocals , other than that they remain as they are , that , for me, is part of the band's sound that distinguses it.

Thats great to seee all those shows sold out. I wonder how ticket sales look in the states? Im going to try to get to the Philly or NYC show. maybe both.
