Trying to buy at box office day of, 12/4

I have tickets to 12/5 so I want to try and snag a pair of GAs 12/4 at the Fleet Center box office the day of the show. Can I go get in the line for GA entrance and get my wristband at 8am, then wait in line at the box office for the ticket drop? Or do I need a ticket to get a wristband? I've read that people who used, say, ETS, waited in a numbered line all day and then got their ticket and returned to the line.

I will be on line for a ticket on Dec. 4 too!
What I have read in the past about the GA line in Boston is that you need a ticket or something from ETS saying you have a ticket waiting for you.

I have friends who have tickets...if they get in line, can I join them later as the 3rd member of the party, even without a wristband?
