Just heard on radio here that Novemeber 17 and 18 look like being likely Melbourne dates for Vertigo - no news on other cities as yet. Apparently this has come from a reliable source close to the band and an official announcement is expected in the next 48 hours.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Those are the same dates for Melbourne that somebody posted on the New Zooland forum (along with all the other cities), with the opening: "Here, how about we make up our own rumour and see how long it
takes for the media to pick up on it?" and an ending: "Of course, everything I've written is complete crap, but hey,
that's what most rumours are and you know what they say
'There's always a little truth in every rumour'. ", which then got posted on Zootopia without those paragraphs. Guess the guy was right... :| But, who knows...could be the dates anyway! Promoters on both sides of the Pacific have said they were looking at this week for an announcement though, so...

I was watching the Video Hits classics show yesterday and Axle talked about November as though it was definite. They closed the show with U2's "One", one of the most popular songs in the world Axle said :) Anyone voting in the Top 100 film clips of all time poll? It is hard to choose the best U2 song that is for sure.
Triple J also mentioned November in their afternoon music news as though it was fact. I was hoping to come here this morning and find that it is. It's a shame people get pleasure from messing around with the truth and the hopes of others.
Congratulations to Bobbie Anotonic. I wanted to win the VIP tickets to the Sydney show, but with a name like that, you deserved them.
I think someone in the Meterology Department is a U2 fan . Tropical Cyclone Larry has just hit the Queensland coast in a poweful way. Shame he's not here to experience it.
:( so near and yet so far. Tomorrow would have been THE day.

Happy Harmony Day for tomorrow Aussie's. I'll be at a high school soccer carnival and having lunch with my Balinese friends...I think I'd prefer to be going to Brisbane to see U2.
**waits patiently**

I posted in a couple other threads, may as well hit this one as well. I spoke with Next Adventure this afternoon and they were hoping to have an announcement this week only that doesn't look like it is going to happen. They are waiting on insurances before making an announcement. It was confirmed to me that there will be some additional shows added, but only in the geographic vicinity where these 10 dates were postponed and that this is in fact the end of the Vertigo Tour. November into December is the date frame.

Yeah, I know its all rumour at the moment, wish someone who worked at the venues could confirm if there has been dates sniffed out for Nov.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere here or not, or when it was put up, but this is from the Ericsson Stadium website...

November 2006
U2 will be here in November!!

Special Conditions / Extra Information:
U2 have committed to bringing the Vertigo tour to New Zealand in November to play the postponed concerts, due to the illness of an immediate family member of one of the band.

We are not yet able to release the confirmed new dates, but hope to be able to do so in the near future.

All tickets currently held will be valid for the new dates without need for exchange.

If any tickets holder is unable to attend in November on the rescheduled date that will correspond to their current ticketed performance date, they will be able to obtain a full refund from the point of purchase.

It sounds like the dates are set, so I don't know why they won't release them.

Mark

After some ringing around, what I do know is that no dates have been close to being confirmed for November yet. The way it's going, I don't think we're likely to hear anything for a while yet.

Dates won't be released by anyone other than the band or their official promoters. I believe this is all part of the big agreement. There are a buttload of logistics and assurances that need to be worked out before the final "Go", so my guess is the band and their people are waiting for all the re schedule dates and ALL the plans to be set and agreements signed, sealed and delivered before any final word is released.

Melbourne and Auckland dates are so far apart and that Hawaii date is so close to Christmas. Hope that schedule isn't carved in stone...

I'm thinin' we're not going to hear anything confirmed until August or so. Does everyone else kinda feel that way?

:|

that would mean brisbane on a weekend! yay! anyone can make these things up tho hey. i hope so but i have been hurt lots before.

I'm sure you're right; they will wait until the last possible moment to make the official announcement. To avoid having to postpone/cancel the dates a second time, this would be the only prudent thing to do. They are simply waiting until they are as certain as they can be that the shows will actually take place. Having said that, HURRY IT UP GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean I'm going to get to go to Hawaii and Ireland in the same month?!?!

Oh, the U2 gods are smiling down on me!!!!

btw, there's no way they will do 4 shows in Japan and I don't believe Dec. 20 will be confirmed for Hawaii, but I guess we'll know for sure sometime before the end of the year!

Hold the phone here; Aloha Stadium has confirmed that Saturday 9 December is the date for the Hawaii show, so what about that date of 20 December on the newest list of rumoured dates? The good news is that "official" word may finally be starting to trickle out.

Total bullshit.

U2 could never sell out four stadium shows in Japan. Why do you think there was only one on the original schedule?

And why would they do two random Dublin dates? Especially in the Point Depot, where they probably couldn't even fit the arena setup, let alone the stadium one! Furthermore, imagine the ticket sale chaos if they DID play the Point Depot! It was bad enough with the Croke Park dates, and Croker held more people than any other show on the entire tour.

That schedule was plausible until it hit Japan, and that Ireland part is plainly obvious as complete nonsense.

Expect the official announcement sometime in the next two weeks; can't be any more specific than that, but IMHO the information is very good (famous last words, I know...) Stay tuned...

Tks TampaDan for replenishing my IV bag!
Dr. TampaDan has something else for that continuous drip feed! This just popped up on @u2.com:

"-- @U2 reader Derek D. says he bumped into Edge Tuesday in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles and asked him about the postponed tour dates. Derek says Edge's reply was, "They're still working out some kinks in the scheduling, but it should be up soon." "

OK, let the wagering begin. I'll take $10 on 17 & 18 November as the Auckland dates...

The schedule will be:

20 November - RSL Club, Cairns
22 November - South Bank Parklands, Brisbane
24 November - Robina Town Centre, Gold Coast
26 November - Federation Square, Melbourne
29 November - Frank Kitts Park, Wellington
30 November - Courtenay Place, Wellington
2 December - Marine Gardens, Raumati Beach
4 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
5 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
6 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
7 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
8 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
9 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
10 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
11 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
12 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
13 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
14 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
15 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
16 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
17 December - One Tree Hill, Auckland
17 January 2007 - Axver's House, either Brisbane or Melbourne
30 February 2011 - Some Beach, Hawaii

Way more realistic than four Japan gigs.

As comical as that list is, a concert at Federation Square would be pretty sweet.

Guess I'm going to have to spend more time in Auckland than anticipated rather than going to Sydney for a week or two.... :hmm:
