MERGED-->MSG 11/22 Time Change + MSG 11/22 tues show starts 7:30 NOW

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Hrmm.. I wonder what time they'll take the stage then. Earlier than their usual MSG time of 930p, perhaps?

This applies to both nights - 11/21 & 11/22. I got the same note for tonight (though I sold my tickets...). It says U2 will take the stage at approx. 8:45pm on both nights.

Holy canole - thanks for the head's up!

so as i say could this in anyway mean a longer set? something totally different from what we have seen?

I don't think it goes for both shows, just the 11/22 show.
I could be wrong though. This is what I got:

"Thank you for your purchase of tickets to U2 at Madison Square Garden on November 22nd. This e-mail contains updated information pertaining to the concert.
The U2 concert on November 22nd will start at 7:30 p.m. Doors for this show will open at 6:30 p.m.

Patti Smith kicks off the evening festivities at approximately 7:30 p.m., with U2 set to take the stage at approximately 8:45 p.m.

We hope you enjoy the show!"

I don't think it's curfew -- I've been to dozens of MSG shows and the curfew has never changed.

Most likely, it's to allow the band more time to fly out (back to Ireland?) that night and not have to travel the next day, the day-before-Thanksgiving, the busiest US travel day of the year. Maybe it'd be tougher to get a runway to charter their flight out?

But, considering that I am going to the show tomorrow night, the hope is that since it's the last NYC show of the year, they wanted to extra time to extend the gig and do something special.....

according to the Dates thread they only have 3 days off...so I doubt they'd be flying back to Ireland. I wonder why the time change :hmm: Probably what jon^ said, it's probably hard to travel the day before Thanksgiving

11/22 MSG start time

got an email from TM - start time has moved to 7:30
(from 8pm) with doors opeing at 6:30.

I know in the past at MSG, U2 cam on at 9:15 -9:30
and played until 11:20 - 11:40 or so.

anyone have any thoughts as to when they will come on
with regard to this change...

if anyone going tonight can post when they came on/when they went off, or if they heard anything with regard to 11/22

That's right, we missed the Canada dates -- so, it's unlikely they're flying back to Europe.

The preseason NIT (college baskeball) tips off the next afternoon at the Garden. Perhaps the change in start time is to accomdate the tournament and give the crew more time to get MSG ready for basketball?

Is 30 minutes really going to make THAT much difference with their travel plans? I mean with the escort and private jet, I think they're pretty much all set...

MSG 11/22 tues show starts 7:30 NOW

I Got a message on my machine from ticketmaster saying the U2 show for Tues is now starting at
7:30 instead of 8

Well that means either the dream 3 hour show (hey, they have to top tonight) or that they are running off to Canada after the show. Probably the latter, but a girl's gotta dream... :D

Its an extra half hour...the opening act will probably come on stage a little earlier.....We can all dream for a three hour show though :)

I think tonight will be really special. I think they'll play 2 or 3 songs that havent been played yet this tour in addition to Discoteque.

it still boggles me that they can ignore zooropa and pop....but they play "for the first time"....the casual fan knows discoteque and stay or lemon before they know that !

While I'm with you that I'd prefer to hear the latter songs over "The First Time" anyday, that song did get more exposure on the Best Of 90-00, so maybe that's why they play it? I wonder if sales of the Best Of have gotten a boost!

But I was at NYC last night and while it's a lovely song, just seems to kill the mood, for me at least...

NYC 2 starting early...

They are starting a lot earlier than last night according to U2.com.... Does this mean maybe something special or just a non issue??
