hi all!
after we read about this GA policy..what time u guys gonna start comin to UC?12pm..before that?any idea?

I want to come in the early AM b/c I'd hate to NOT be buzzed in to the Ellipse and get stuck @ the back of the floor area.
But, I'll be so tired by the end of the day I don't know - I'm getting old :( :|
However, the excitement of seeing U2 up close may keep my energy up!
Hope everyone is ready to be the loudest, best crowd they've seen :hyper: :dancing:

On Monday, I'm leaving at 7:30 in the morning to drive up to Chitown (will take me 3 hours) so I will be arriving somewhere bewteen 10:30-11:00. Hopefully I'll time it just right if indeed the line up starts at noon. But I plan on checking back to this thread to see if any new info is posted after Saturday's show.
For those folks going on Saturday and can post something for the rest of us....please do so!

Yeah that will be a big help for us for Monday's show :)

I'm bringing water so I don't have to wee a lot lol (pop and other drinks are dangerous!), some energy bars, some old mags to read and pass around, some cheap clear plastic rain ponchos I have that we can toss when we go in (40% chance of rain), and whatever else I can think of by then. Everything will be things I can toss before I go in.
I don't want to carry anything in except my tickets, ID, credit card, and maybe a comb - I don't want to be stuck having things searched.

I'm so nervous for 5/7

I have a GA ticket for 5/7 and I am so nervous I will screw it up somehow. I have to go by myself to wait in line because the person who is coming to the show with me can't come until later. It's a huge bummer b/c if one of us gets beeped the other one won't be there to get in also.

Do they typically have anything set up for line-waiters if you have to go to the bathroom or should I go NPO after midnight? That's assuming people in line would be cool about me leaving to go to the bathroom at all since I will be by myself?

I would love any advice from those of you out there who have done this before...I was so excited about having GA when I bought the tickets but that was months ago and now I am just full of anxiety. I am also going 5/9 and 5/10 but with seats those nights.

Thanks. I probably can't get there until late morning so I will be way back in the line anyway...good news, the forecast for Saturday is sunny and maybe as high as 75!

Parking at the UC

the UC parking lot opening times are going to be affected as well ... this does NOT sound GOOD for me ... especially, since I want to park INSIDE their parking lot fence !!

What I was told when calling the UC was that they are opening up only one lot at 12:00--Lot K which is adjacent to the GA lineup area. But it's troublesome because if people go earlier there's not really anyplace good to leave your car. Plus then you have to scramble around and move it at 12:00 guaranteeing some chaos with the line.

For any visitors coming in...here's how the GA line was setup and where the band entered, at least from teh Elevation tour. I'd assume it hasn't changed for this one but can't be sure.

The lineup started on Honore Street and wrapped around Adams, then onto Damen Ave.

u think so..?is it a bad idea to bring ipod with me?u gonna start come to UC at 9am..?which date are u going?
I'm probably worrying too much but I'm afraid something will happen where they check your stuff and meanwhile other people are heading to the floor. I don't know if they're going to have only ONE check in line, KWIM?
I have been stressed to about this whole GA thing - I just need to relax and whatever happens happens. I was so elated when i got them but I've been a wreck ever since lol.
I've heard that you'll be able to go back to your car but who knows what they'll let you do...I suppose you could have someone hold your spot and you could run back, just like if you had to go to the bathroom.
I'm not bringing my cell either lest they think it's a camera phone and detain me - and send me back to my car to put it back!
So, I am just going as bare as I can!

You can certainly bring in an iPod, but I would avoid having a giant backpack...and if you are female there is a chance you'll have to have your purse searched, so if you are GA bring a small one.

And you can certainly leave the GA line to go to the bathroom! You'll be fine :)

In the case that a line forms off the property, everyone will simply get numbers written on their hands in the order that they appear, and at 12:00 they will ask security to escort them onto the UC property--that way it isn't a mad dash at 12. It's important for fans to organize and police themselves, and communicate to security that an organized off-property line is a hell of alot better than a free-for-all at noon.

I'm so stress about this GA things...:((,also about to come into the elipse...
not even bring the cell phone?? i read in another post..in UC allowed to bring the camera,is it true?
is it ok if i bring my cell, and ipod with me?except ticket,u2.com member and my profile?what else should I bring or not..?please let me know..need your suggestion..THX

I just spoke with the security and operations personnel at the UC and they said that people will not be allowed to leave the line for any reason, be it food, bathroom, chair, iPod, or Broadway show, and come back to the same place in line. Once you leave the line, everyone behind you can move up b/c your spot is now gone. It seems pretty harsh, but they said it's the only way to make sure the die hard fans are at the front. If you can hold your bladder for 6 hours, or just pee your pants, then you must be pretty hardcore. I would suggest bringing some old plastic milk jugs for peeing (hey it beats peeing your pants) and maybe a $1 bucket from Wal-Mart for the hard stuff. Oh and don't forget TP!

The tickets say no cameras, recording devices...I would think they'd be checking cells to see if they're camera phones. Does anyone know anything about this or have an opinion?

Seriously? That would be inhumane! :( :eyebrow:
Are they really concerned about what type of fan is up front?!?
Well, for women this wouldn't work unless they bring a huge blanket to cover themselves while doing the duty.
Pretty gross. :barf:  :yuck: - then there would be nasty buckets everywhere lol.
I couldn't see them doing that :eyebrow:

yeah..we need some info about camera cell phone..is it allowed?
if not..and i bring my cell to communicate with people..what will happen?
last info about this please..UC GA line/elipse..what is the best time to come....thx

Ok, some of you reaaaaaally need to take a valium or two and stop freaking out...

You're freaking the rest of us out!

Ruffian has already done a bunch of shows, Chizip, Ally, myself and others have already done at least one and we're alive to tell the tale...

What time is everyone showing up? Who knows. I don't think any other show has had a bunch of people going "ok, we're all going to show up at this time"

what to bring? well, that depends on how long you'll be staying in line. Your supplies will vary vastly depending different scenarios.

Can you bring your cell phone? YES. The cell phones are a part of the show.

Can you bring your camera? That's a little bit touchier. Tickets say no. Venue will probably continue to say no until the end. Chances are they'll let you bring it in provided it is not a professional camera. But if you dont have a car, you're of course risking trouble if this is not the case.

Are there bathroom breaks allowed? I don't see how they can't allow bathroom breaks. My theory is that they're acting all hard to discourage us from showing up too early.

Now seriously, let's all grab a paper bag, breath in and out and relax

 :D

Well for some of us this is the first time we have GA which is a dream come true and we don't want to screw it up lol.

agree with u hluvslmj..:))
I already flew so many hours just to see U2..and this is my first time to chicago..heard so many bad things in chicago...also this GA and elipse things...:)))
c u all in chicago..will be there on 8th at HRC,GA on 9th and 10th...!!!

I am thinking of saying screw it and getting there whenever! Maybe take in some sights before the show, have a nice lunch downtown, then hop over to the UC.
I also don't feel like sitting around all day AND I have a weak bladder lol.
But, would I be  over not being up close if we don't get buzzed" in? Probably but I'd survive.
I'll probably be losing sleep the whole weekend flip flopping back and forth over what to do lol.
Well, hope everyone going on the 7th will fill us in on the GA procedure if you would be so kind :help:

Yeah I think I am going to come over at noon; that way I can park in the lot and not have to figure out how to move my car. Assume I will be way back in the line but what can you do.

My sister said she'd pay to park elsewhere and transport us over to the UC so that's an option.

It seems stressful, but it's worth it. ;) Just think of that so you won't get stressed out.

I wouldn't bring an iPod. I think a camera would suffice. Like what someone here said, bring stuff you can toss (except for the tix, profile, membership card, of course) before entering the arena.

My other post was a joke! :D

I'm in the camp with Miroslava. I'm keeping up on this topic b/c my brother is going (he's in finals and can't really pay attention to details, at least he shouldn't), and every post I'm amazed at how jittery people are with this.

Show up when you want to show up. If you are driving, bring whatever the hell you want b/c you'll be able to take it back to your car before they open the doors (I highly suggest some camp chairs, a cooler, a deck of cards, umbrellas, portable DVD player, pack of smokes, phone number for Giordano's pizza, iPod, and some dirty magazines :D). If you need to go to the bathroom, you're still going to have your place in line. Just relax and go with the flow.
