Hawaii, April 8th (and 8th) - Aloha Stadium! - Part

Hopefully we'll be able to remove the question mark after the 9th very soon, but as the days go by, this seems less likely :(

"KPOI FM 105.9 in Hawaii says today that the 2nd Hawaii show will be announced next month."

Second U2 show unconfirmed

So is there going to be a second U2 concert at Aloha Stadium? The rumor mill has been abuzz that it is a go for Sunday, April 9, the day after the band's first concert. That Saturday event is a near sellout, with only $95 tickets still available in the stadium's J and JJ sections in the upper, fifth-level yellow area.

As of now there is no official word from stadium officials on the second show.

If tickets do go on sale for a second show, it will happen around Pro Bowl weekend, Feb. 11 and 12. The thing is, the sale does not want to conflict with talk that tickets for Jack Johnson's Kokua Festival on April 22 at the Waikiki Shell are going on sale that busy weekend as well. So they supposedly will be held on a separate Saturday and Sunday.

Johnson will once again headline the show, which will include guests Willie Nelson, Ben Harper, Henry Kapono, former "American Idol" contestant Paula Fuga and her One Love 'Ohana, and ALO (the Animal Liberation Orchestra).

» What is the time difference in Hawaii? Here you go: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ If you ask this question on the thread, be aware that you will be receiving this :madwife:

» The band will be flying to Honolulu from Australia, and the concert here will also feature opening band Rocko & the Devils. Rocko, being none other than the U2 Crew's own Rocko Reedy

» 15,000 GA tickets, 20,000 seats.

» The stadium will be in the baseball configuration, with the stage in the center-field area, facing south.

» Something to consider for GA line purposes. Hawaii's Largest Swap Meet is held every Wed, Sat & Sun 6am-3pm at the stadium's parking lot. This is good for food, restrooms, etc. purposes, but probably a bit of a problem for a peaceful set up.

Looks like we should be ok so long as set up is done in the area immediately adjacent to the stadium.

Welcome Interferencers going to Hawaii!!

This site is for organizing tickets, finding out who is going, and staying where and discussing partying in Honolulu. Explore the room. This is an interactive page.

You can post MESSAGES for everyone to read. You can read and add LINKS. The LINKS section already has helpful tips to make your trip more enjoyable. Feel free to add your own travel tips including flight or hotel deals.

Please fill in the appropriate DATABASE when you have made travel arrangements. Even if you don't know this info, simply add your name to the "Where are you staying" DATABASE and leave the rest blank. You can always go back and edit the info. This will help with the gathering planning and you will know if other Interlanders are staying in your hotel. New DATABASE added for travel tips to Hawaii, things people better not forget to pack. Any suggestions, please add them.

You can post your picture in the PHOTOS section so we know who we are looking for in Hawaii. There is also a POLLS section.

Zootopia is organizing a thank you display for the band

We're now at 15,000 Lokahi-ONE signs for the Hawaii shows....still 30000 signs to go!

We have 16 GA volunteers and 1 reserved seat volunteer to hand out the signs the day of the show. We need MORE volunteers, especially reserved seat people.

Please, it will not take much of your time, if we all join as ONE we can make this happen. Also, please consider printing signs, or discover how you can help, even if you are not going to Hawaii.

Let's give the 4 boys a BLAST of a surprise for their LAST Vertigo show!

Email hans444@u2.com if you have any questions.

Also, Miroslava has requested that Jason Momoa be on hand to Lei the ladies at the airport as they deplane

I wonder if they will open up the "side stage" seats(L, M, LL, MM?)

Also, since the seats obviously move for baseball/football configuration, can the L, M, LL, MM seats be moved for a better view of the stage?

Are you going to Hawaii, U2FanPeter? I don't know about opening more seats if they can't sell what they already have. I dunno, speculation about the sellout and second show is tiring me out. I'm just happy to be going to see U2 in Hawaii and have a relaxing week of fun with fellow U2 fans.

"Apparantly Ticketmaster is working ba$$ackwards."

that would explain why my U2.com presale Hawaii tickets haven't arrived yet! ;)

Short answers - - yes and no.

Longer response below. Warning, more detail than you probably want.

At one of the Tickemaster locations in Hawaii I saw that sections L, M, LL and MM were available as "obstructed view" seats for $49.50. Probably obstructed view because you can't see the screens behind the guys.

The sections of the stadium move together in blocks of sections; not individually. I think L through Q, LL through QQ, K through F and KK through FF are the blocks of sections that move. E through EE and R through RR do not move. So section L does not come apart from Section M; and the same thing holds true for sections M and N. Hope this makes sense. If you take a look at the stadium in football and baseball configuration you'll kind of get an idea as to the block of sections that move together.

Back to work!

I spent a good 10 minutes staring at the two pictures at the top of the page seeing how the stands "retract" and "expand". I believe the "side stage" sections, if moved, would block some of the seats already sold and decrease the size of the GA area.

It also doesn't help that the generic seating map is out of porportion. I also think the sightlines are further away than they look, and could have sound problems.

It reminds me of the Glasgow(?) setup where is was a sideways(parallel to players benches) rather than endzone setup.

BTW I didn't mean to upset anyone with the TMI girlie talk in the last thread:reject:

I don't think you upset anyone... I was just making sure the talk stopped there

"Well if you are looking for tickets and you are going to Hawaii, if you keep checking back here there may be tickets for sale. I know people who bought extras for 4/8 hoping there would be a 4/9 show to wheel and deal and trade with. Good luck--hope you make it, the more the merrier!"

Well I know Ace Ticket has plenty of GA for decent prices, it's just a matter of can I find one for less than $105? Here or on ebay, or somewhere else. Or will they announce another show and I could be able to get one for $50, we shall see.

Also, am I gonna be able to come up with the cash for the trip, it's just too bad I don't live in Hawaii, haha. But then again if I didn't live in Boston I wouldn't have seen such great shows in 2005.

I'm sooooo confused  How? huh....

the stadium doesn't actually move, does it? how does it change that configuration?

I wonder how they are planning to transport thousands of signs, unless they will be printing them in Hawaii or have fans there who are assisting
I read this on the previous thread.

We have local U2 fans from Hawaii who are helping to organize the ONE-Lokahi sign initiative. So, many people will copy and ship it to Honolulu.

We also have people who donate a small amount (e.g. 5$) to help place a very big order at a local copy shop in Honolulu.

And finally, people will bring as much as they can in the suitcases.

The Yahoo group is open to anyone. If you want to help out handing out the signs please come and sign up. I´m trying to organize this well ahead of time. With this high number of signs we can't wait til the last moment.

Right now we have 26 volunteers, but we need many more, both GA and reserved seats people.

Thank you for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Ooh another Bostonian? It amazes me that the prices are cheaper going to Europe and elsewhere. But going to Hawaii, it's so expensive.

If your looking for a ticket, it is face value only on here, plus whatever it costs to ship it to you.

I just got my GA ticket in the mail today. I bought it from a very nice Interfrence member. :dancing:

U2Girl...

Haha, for me it was the other way around. It is more expensive for me to fly from Santa Barbara to LA (about 100 miles) than from LA to Honolulu. LOL! (Of course that was a fare sale price, but still.)

Your can faintly see the outline of the footbal field in the baseball picture.

The stands, football configuration, appear to break apart at the 50 yard line(including the roof)

That's the best I can figure.

Flying to Hawaii is the same as flying to Argentina from the Northeast. Hawaii is 10 hours non-stop (if you can find one...), flying to Ireland is just a bit over five! Only thing is you don't have to deal with customs and immigration. :)

Someone posted to the u2tours mailing list that they received their presale tickets today so hopefully y'all will have them soon!
It is so nice to see unused U2 tickets on my desk again :)
