Hopefully we'll be able to remove the question mark after the 9th very soon, but as the days go by, this seems less likely :(

Folks Not Ready to Pay Top Dollar Yet for U2

By Derek Paiva
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Entrepreneurs who bought tickets to U2 may have hoped for a quick, fat profit on the online resale market, but it looks like the big money has yet to flow in that direction.

A few tickets still were available yesterday through official outlet Ticketmaster to U2's Vertigo Tour finale April 8 at Aloha Stadium, and that could be putting a damper on the resale value.

At ticket reseller StubHub .com, the asking price for U2 tickets yesterday ranged from $83.99 each for general admission floor tickets that originally sold for $49.50, to $1,488 each for section HH, row 13 seats that originally sold for $165. Price ranges at other resale sites such as Gotickets.com and CheapPricedTickets.com were similar.

From a limited sample viewed yesterday, the tickets aren't actually selling at a huge premium.

On eBay, auctions for a pair of section CC, row 1 seats with an asking price of $349 and a pair of section G, row 1 seats for $329 — seats that originally sold for $165 each — ended with zero bidders.

Bidding for a pair of section GG, row 3 tickets that originally cost $165 each — plus Ticketmaster convenience charges — ended with a final bid of $343.99.

Seats were still available at Ticketmaster's Web site yesterday, including side by side and single seats for $165 or $95 each. All $49.50 tickets have been sold out since Feb. 14, the first day of sales.

As for the likelihood of a second U2 concert on April 9, Aloha Stadium spokesman Patrick Leonard said he was still optimistic one might happen.

"They've asked about the date. It's available. But we have not received confirmation or a signed contract from the promoters," Leonard said. "The only way we could hold the date is if a down payment is put down."

Random information

» What is the time difference in Hawaii? Here you go: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ If you ask this question on the thread, be aware that you will be receiving this :madwife:

» The band will be flying to Honolulu from Australia, and the concert here will also feature opening band Rocko & the Devils. Rocko, being none other than the U2 Crew's own Rocko Reedy

» 15,000 GA tickets, 20,000 seats.

» The stadium will be in the baseball configuration, with the stage in the center-field area, facing south.

» Something to consider for GA line purposes. Hawaii's Largest Swap Meet is held every Wed, Sat & Sun 6am-3pm at the stadium's parking lot. This is good for food, restrooms, etc. purposes, but probably a bit of a problem for a peaceful set up.

Looks like we should be ok so long as set up is done in the area immediately adjacent to the stadium.

Miroslava, you may want to add these two to list of concert-goers,
since I'm pretty sure they'll be there:

Aloha bunnies!

that second one is PRECIOUS! :cute:

Miroslava, how about adding a link to the radio station you've been streaming?

cute bunnies :cute:

Love a random u2 mention - in the show Love Monkey (cute but best because of music :nerd: comments) they said they couldn’t get all of u2 - only Larry Mullen would do a benefit concert and Geldof was out of the question b/c he only does disaster benefits

silly people - like they could get Larry

Oahu Revealed

Just received a copy of this book today and it's a really good read-much better than your normal travel guide. Plus if you order it now it will probably arrive in your mailbox sooner than your tickets and will help pass the time until the tickets for the 2nd show go on sale.......

I was going to suggest this book, I just ordered it on Amazon. It looks really informative and good. Thanks, Nightsong, for the post!

I wonder how many of the released tickets may have been bought by scalpers/people on ebay who were selling tickets before they physically had them in their hands :hmm:

I still don't understand why they just don't declare this a "sell out" and then do a drop later with those tix, like it's been done for every other show... :slant:

I must have been really  yesterday evening.
What was I thinking?
Posting that I would stay away from this thread for a while.
:tsk:
Should have known better.
Apologies to all, but it looks like I'm not going anywhere.
